Thordo,

When I originally ran the group buy for the Rudius from Ares, I had some general curious concerns about product quality and fit. On behalf of the couple of hundred people that were part of my not-for profit group buy (and the copycat follow in group buy that i just didnt want to manage) 1, I took the designs from ares to a number of 1911 gunsmiths to implement any positive changes. We learned that the dimensioning from the non-gun experienced machinist was off on the jig, which I believe has been addressed, the handgrip needed work, as well as a number of other things which Ares just did not proceed with given their latest attitude and approach with their contracted machinist. The original design would have worked, but using a hacksaw with a $135 jig to hand fit a nice slide was...not congruent.

I imagine that the good people at Polymer80 have probably hired a good polymer person or two to deal with some of the concerns you voice, no to mention probably some manner to protect some of their manufacturing tradecraft. That said, I am sure that if people with your level of competence would offer to participate to help make theirs a better product, they would take recommendations to heart and find a way to show their gratitude, as grown ups and professionals often do

Remember that lowers were available not long ago for $55 before the Obama hope and change, save the children, disarm the citizens pitch. The cost of manufacturing for some of the aluminum lowers has got to have dropped to around the 30ish dollar mark. Combined with the fact that Obama's ATF is now even trying to go after 3d printing CAD files, things are reaching a fever pitch of all time stupid. The value of polymers have to bring something greater to the consumer rather than just a lower manufacturing cost, and I am sure that is there...

Yep. The doubters were legion, both before and after testing. There's probably at least a couple million still around today.

We have thouroughly solved the shrinking issue. I cannot discuss our method as its a trade secret but it a pretty innovative way we are doing it. If you think you have a concern about warping parts, we are investin 10s of thousands of dollars on the mold. We made absolutly sure we solved that early on, and we have.

Thanks!

Good luck but... I'm sorry, I'm not buying it.

Thordo,

Just know that we are working with polymer experts and spent over a month on that issue alone. We would not be investing the kind of money we are in the molds overlooking something so elementary. Remember there is always more than one way to skin a cat.

Your concern is appreciated.

My concern is whether or not you will be able to hit your ship date of June 21. How positive are you that you can meet that date? What will you do if Murphy shows up and you aren't able to?

Derekt2,

That is a valid concern consideringwhat everyone has gone through with other companies.we will always be in communication with you no matter what happens.if we don't meet our goal for the ship date its not like it will be very far behind. But what I can promise is I will be very active constantly letting everybody know what is happening minute by minute. Thanks

I just submitted my order. The order number is # 556!

Do I win a prize? Who got order # 223?

Now the wait begins. At least by the time my order arrives, the price of accessories should be almost back to normal.

We are actually getting a laser etching printer fairly soon... the major hurdle is getting the webiste functionality for it.

Soon ( not sure when) you will be able to add a lower to the cart, select the Cerakote pattern you want, or single color, and then upload your own images and text for placement on the lower before it ships. This avoids TONS of headaches trying to find a vendor who will handle the 80%ers. Now, it will all be handled by the manufacturer.. Problem Solved!

#441. I placed an order for myself and couple of friends. I think that it is important to support these California businesses, especially those in NorCal such as Polymer80.

As most of us in NorCal know, we don't have the gun resources that they do down South. Support our local vendors and we may get more.

Appreciated! We dont just want to sell 80%ers... We want to establish the absolute standard in the 80% arms industry, and it means more than just a neat product.

We will excell in the following areas:
Innovative products that are NEVER just the status quo.

Customer service. In our opinion, the 80% market has a huge problem here, we aim to fix that... With a vengence!

Transparancy, we will give regular HONEST updates as to where we are on a given product.

True integration into to firearms industry, this means partnerships and contracts that ally with large and small gun makers.

Polymer80 means to change this market to serve YOU.

I have been building and helping folks build their lowers for years, and I have always felt taken for granted as a customer and we have made a promise that the customer will ALWAYS be be the primary focus of this company.

This is what we want to build and I have to say, you guys are making it happen!

THANK YOU!!!

Can you shed some light, on the FCP how do you get flat sides with a round bit that has no lateral movement?

I asked this earlier. The bulk of the material is drilled out first. Afterwards, the remaining material will have to be filed or chipped out.

Well that would be awesome for a permanent solution, but my idea was for a temp solution utilizing labels. One could play around with different colors, fonts, graphics, and placement before making a final decision.

no im not, you could always pm the op and go from there instead of trying to attack his price point. he is the first to come out with product. if its that cheap how come you didnt make it?

if the customer is important how come you arent helping your past customer in your thread?

Customers are, you are not a customer you are a competing Vendor and what you are doing is trying to damage another Vendor's ability to sell.

I removed your postings in another 80% vendor's thread yesterday for doing the same thing.

If you have a question for another Vendor about pricing, material, sources or anything of that nature ask it via PM.

Huh... He did PM me about pricing a few days ago and I gave him both retail and wholesale pricing. Any vendor or retailer is welcome to sell our lowers. We have just finalized our distributor program. Please... if you are a vendor or retailer and even if you make your own 80% products I would love to partner with you.

We feel we have a pretty innovative product and system that is drastically different from anything else and if you would like to offer this to your customers, please, by all means, let me know!

Thanks,
-Loran

I was going to respond to DiyWeapons' unfortunate post that you removed. I agree with your decision, as I perceived it as an effort to persuade potential customers away from the OP's product. Being an employee of a small manufacturer myself, I was going to say to any reseller/vendor/retailer of competing products to first become a manufacturer yourself before sticking foot in mouth.

I do appreciate the level of respect that I am getting on this thread/site. From where I stand, I know what I have done to get this idea to this point (myselft and my partner, Dave). We have been working on this idea for nearly six months before even mentioning it here. We know we have come up with a quality product and we continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our standard of excellence is seen all the way through.

The way I see it.. when this product launches and people get this in their hands and watch all of our videos that will produce on how to finish it out, showing off all of its durability ect., I absolutely believe we will change the 80% market and it will EXPLODE.

People (and competitors) will say what they say... I intend to let my product do the talking. Of course I owe any of you I am asking to put money towards this an explanation as to WHY I know this... but "haters" (cant believe I used that term) will be silenced by the truth. So in the spirit of that, lets move on and keep these posts about questions, comments and concerns about ANYTHING you want to know about us or our product.

Again I am humbled by all of you rushing to my defense... So as I keep saying on this thread: THANKS!

Oh man, if my google foo was any good, this is the point where I would be replying with some pics of Son of Guns...

Game Changer? Open up a whole new market?

By the way, once I see some live prototypes, I am most definitely in.
