Have seen a couple threads, but not quite reviews of it, looks ok for what it is.... Tons of old for sale threads on them though..... |

On sale at turners my buddy put one on layaway last thur. $259 He was picking up handgun and is stuck with 1 in 30 rule. He has been shooting mine and liked it
Ilike it because it same frame as my 1911 just a bit lighter.. Last edited by edgerly779; 07-10-2018 at 1:21 PM.. |

I like mine. I used it to introduce a first time shooter to shooting. First 1 round in the mag. Then a full mag. Then moved to a 9mm 1911. Same process. Then a .45 1911. Same process.

I like mine. It's currently for sale because I need some extra cash and have too many 22s. Shoots accurate and is semi reliable, perfect with mini mag. Once you start modifying it for more accuracy it will shoot high. Can do a lot of modifying with it.

got mine late last year, only taken it out a couple times, probably 300 rounds through it. tons of fun, i don't recall any issues with a variety of ammo (bulk box, minimags, aguila, etc) mimics a 1911 well, but a fun gun in it's own right. i think for sub $300 they're a great deal, more than that i'd probably just get a buckmark.
the painted slide smells funny, and the disassembly requires a tool, but honestly a bore snake and wipe down are all it really needs. |

The GSG is a bit of a pot metal lottery. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. The first one I had one was too tight so it shot very accurately, but sometimes the slide would not go back into battery. The second one went back into battery but because of the slop on the bushing to slide fit, the groups I shot were not as tight.
I'm still pretty happy with the GSG. Some work with CWS accessories and it becomes a fun 22 to shoot. It isn't as accurate as my buckmark but it is more fun. |

Yeah there is something fun about the GSG's... Advantage Arms Glock conversion slides are similarly fun IMHO, and you get to use the trigger and frame you are used to.

Ok, sounds like it will be good for my purposes. I have other guns already. I have shot m9, m16, ar15, marlin 22lr, glock 34, 1911, so yeah, just want thus as a range toy, to buy 22lr. And save some $ on ammo. Not going to do matches, or ptecision shooting or anything like that.

I picked one up earlier this year and like it,but I stopped shooting it until I can replace the sights.
Shoots insanely high and it came with the tallest front sight installed. I cant aim anywhere near the target. Not fun. Also need to try stretching the mag spring a bit as rounds dont always lift properly. |

I’m currently in the market for a 22lr pistol as well. I’m seriously considering the GSG 1911-22 but it seems a bit cheaply made.

Bought mine about 3 years ago. Love shooting it, when I get the chance. The wife decided that she wants to shoot it when we go to the range. Easier for her to rack the slide compared to other calibers.

Probably going to pass on this then. Just wanted a simple range toy. I am building a ar15-22 right now, and just wanted to take 1 round to the range, but I don't want to have to mess with the sights or do all of that. I may just get a flashlight for my xd9

Pro:
- Cheap, $250 on sale @ Turners. - 1911 platform, the upper is different but the lower is a 1911 platform, buy it then adjust the sear spring, polish the sears to get lighter trigger, if you screw up you lost only $250 instead of 2K of your .45ACP 1911. - The magazine very well build. - It does not finicky ammo. - FUN to shoot - A good training pistol. Cons: - The slide is a pot metal, see the picture below at about 1K round. - The frame is aluminum or nickel or whatever that is not steel (hey, it is only $250 , what are you expect ? ) - It is not accurate as .45 ACP. - The sights are plastic I bought this pistol when it is on sale and after I had a Buckmark. If you buy this pistol then change the sight, send to gunsmith for lighter trigger …. then don't buy it, don't put any more money on this pistol (except the ammo) it is not worth it, but if you are looking for something cheap and fun to shoot then this is the one. Mine is around 3K rds no problem at all and still a fun gun to shoot. Last edited by newbie1234; 06-29-2018 at 9:02 PM.. |

GSG 1911-22LR
I’ve had mine since they came out. Thousands of rounds through. Sure the slide is “pot metal” but if you rack and run like high $ Customs, the slide stop is a non_issue. Run the slide stop/release lazily and ya, the slide surely will get trashed. But running the slide that way is not good for a variety of reasons an many guns.
A lot of upgrades, from sights, Barrel bushings, springs and mag options are a available. It likes high velocity ammo

Yup. Same manufacturer. Mine (GSG) runs great and has since I got it years ago.

I have 2 of them that I shoot and not any issues with either one. Probably have a combined 5k rounds thru them. Keep in mind they are not a $3,000 Ed Brown but they are fun and accurate for what they are.

No, it’s the GSG-made SIG 1911-22. They stopped selling them for obvious reasons. I got mine for free as part of a promotion. It was worth what I paid, and not a penny more.

I have the smaller version with the light rail... the GSG 922 CA.
https://www.americantactical.us/5148/detail.html The trigger is VERY good especial for a $230 gun or whatever I paid. Could be an expensive upgrade trigger or really decent 1911 trigger. I know the sights are cheap and can break. Mine have not yet but I know someone who broke them fast - maybe even first range trip. Overall a nice gun for the money. I'd trade my P22 for another one. |

1911-22
I have been happy with my GSG. Make sure the barrel tightening screw is tight. I bought the CW cone-rod-spring kit for mine and barrel screw is no longer needed. The cone holds the barrel much tighter in front. It definitely shoots high with this addition (as expected), even with the tallest sight. I glued part of one of the shorter sights onto the top of another of the shorter sights to get a front sight taller than supplied and that puts it right on. May buy a Dawson front sight that is the same height as my pieced together front sight. Pleased with the CW kit.

Loading the gun (ready for firing) ProcedureFWIW, I was using the slide lock/release instead of slingshotting the slide when I first got mine. It is the technique I was instructed to use on my centerfire 1911s which, of course, all have steel slides. Now that I've adopted the GSG procedure for the 1911-22, the wear seems to be minimal. |
