Pick up my new 930HS in 9 days. Looking forward to getting started. Decided to go with the HS as a starting point instead of the SPX because of the cost, and I don't think the SPXs sights and rail will do me much good.
I'll be ordering the +2 extension, fiber optic/tritium sight, TLR-1, nordic clamp with rail, and a sling. Can't wait! |

Elite Tactical Advantage have this new hand guard that I just install on my 930. The SF logo and the bridge is awesome. Nice piece of art.

I'm handling it and will wait until resolution to post details. Glad to hear I won't ever need to touch it again though! That's an awesome deal! Post up pictures!

I'm kind of glad I missed that $599.99 Calgun deal at Turner's... Because I REALLY wanted the 590a1 (perhaps not as soon as right then and there) but between this thread and that deal making it only $80 more than the 590a1 I'd have probably DROS'ed that and broken my rule...

I don't think you can go wrong with either! I was in your same position then I made the plunge and got the 930 SPX. I then told myself I would get a AR, but the Benelli M4 kept calling my name (LOL) so I got that.

Mesa Tactical just posted an update on their Urbino 930spx stock on their forum.
Looking good! Still can't figure out how to post on there though... |

I decided to revert back to the stock extension tube and spring. I have been experiencing a lot of hang ups suddenly with the stock follower and Nordic spring that I haven't been able to resolve. No issues with the stock spring and extension tube so it will stay in that configuration. |

it's a Choate, if I'm not mistaken. So i would point you towards their site.

Yeah I was just curious if they were cheaper anywhere else.
I'm not sure about their description... " 6 Shot Model fits 18" barrel or longer. 7 Shot Model fits 20" barrel or longer" Doesn't the 7-shot fit on the 18" barrel SPX? |

Thanks for the info, I had heard that and many other followers made the capacity 6+1 rather than 7+1. How tight is the 7th round fit in the tube? Is there still a bit more room to go?

The Nordic follower will solve the problem you are having.

I trust my 930 SPX again!
Brought her out along with my handgun to the range last night after fixing the gas chamber issue and wire brushing the hell out of the mag tube. Cycled 50 rounds of Fed Target Loads (the pink breast cancer shells). Not ONE fail to eject issue now! Finally she is cycling like she did on the first time out. I finally trust her for home defense again. Going to try the dreaded Winchester Wally Loads next time to ensure it will cycle everything before keeping it loaded with Hornady Buckshot in the closet. Happy days!

Oh I see. Yeah I definitely feel you on that.
For me, I don't see a need to upgrade from the Choate. I'm sure you'll find one if you look hard enough.

I just got back from the range with my new 930 SPX and I couldn't be happier. I didn't clean it any, just doused the bolt in slip2000 EWL and ran it. I shot 75 rounds of federal 7 1/2 bird shot I got at Walmart, also 20 or so Fiochi low recoil 00 buck and 20 Remington full power slugs. Not a single stoppage of any kind.
I added a Choate orange follower and a Nordic barrel clamp as well. Very pleased so far. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2 |

Had 3 failures to eject Federal birdshot in my first range trip yesterday. Only put 15 or so rounds of buck through it first, so it isn't really broken in yet. After a couple hundred I expect that it will be good to go.

I'll have to borrow my roommate's DSLR and get some pics (and more importantly, go to the range soon).
I've had my 930 field/HD combo for 3 years now, never had a stoppage shooting all kinds of rounds. I got it because I didn't like the (lack of) cheek weld with the ghost rings on the SPX. Just threw on a Nordic +3, Nordic Clamp, TLR-1, GGGAZ follower, GGGAZ bolt handle, GGGAZ sling adapter, and a single point with a bungee. I'm stoked to hear Mesa is making progress on the urbino!!!! |
