OP, thanks, nice feature!

For some reason the map put the Richmond Rod & Gun club in the wrong location? Address seems right...

Also, how about the Martinez Gun Club? Open to the public, but shotgun only...

I'll see what's up with the marker for RR&G and add Martinez.

Thanks

Not sure how far south you are looking for. There is the Gunrunner in Merced, and indoor range.

Are you looking for only ranges that are open to the public? There are a number of members-only clubs I'm aware.

I'll add these in the next day or 2, thanks.

As far as members only or private clubs, PM me their info and I'll contact them. I only map them if they want me to. Some don't want publicity.

Glad it's helpful. When you get up to Ft B, let me know what's in that area. I get the impression most people up that way have a lot of public land to shoot on, so there aren't a lot of commercial ranges.

I don't know anyone up there but one person. I hope to meet some shooters up there.

Forest service range in the Tahoe national forest:

https://www.google.com/maps/@39.3903...!3m1!1e3?hl=en

There are a couple shooting benches, and 100 yards worth of clearing, more if you want to hike up the hill to place your targets. Behind a locked gate, you can check out the key from the Ranger station in Truckee.

On edit: there is another shooting spot on the same road, closer to the gate, and within walking distance if you do not have they key, but it is not as nice, last time I was there there were no benches, and no shade. The farther spot is much nicer, but quite a hike if you can't get past the gate: https://www.google.com/maps/@39.3927...!3m1!1e3?hl=en

Both are generally full of trash and crap slob shooters leave behind.

Still no Tracy Rifle and Pistol? They moved to a new location with an indoor range good to rifle up to 308.

The link is to a pretty generic BLM web page. I scanned through it and don't really find any specific info and really only see that Panoche Hills is somewhere around Hollister. If you can get me some more specific info about shooting spots there, I'll be glad to add it.

I opened a map for Hollister and zoomed around but didn't identify Panoche hills at all. If you want to bring up a map, locate Panoche Hills and send me that link, I'll work with that.

New place in final construction in Rancho Cordova - got illuminated in the SacBEE by one of their columnists who, I am sure you know, is not very friendly to 2nd Amendment.

Great map and info! Google only does so much. Still have a drive to most longer range areas, from Yuba, but now I know where to go. Thanks!

I didn't know a google acct was required.

Can you use google maps http://google.com/maps but just can't see the custom map?

And let me know what browser you use .. I'll see what I can find out.

I'd like to keep expanding this to cover a larger area. Send me the names or links to you favorites and I'll add them.

Any other info you think should be included in the description? Some of them don't have much and it looks like I need to standardize the info a little. Any comments are appreciated.

For the Clear Creek Management Area, you should probably include this link to the BLM Hollister Field Office's CCMA page because it has important instructions for access to CCMA.

ETA: Awesome work, BTW.

Hi, there are a number of web grabber utilities that allow retrieving a whole website and store it on your hardisk. Is there a way to grab the range site webpage so it can be used while offline and out of contact with the internet?

Thank you.

Good Question! I just got a new phone and trying to figure it out, so I'll try to find a way to download the map. Might take a while .. it's my first 'smart' phone

ok, thanks, I do not think it is doable.

My wifi ends 10 feet out the front door of my house, from then on the map and the whole program is lost.

Some gun area location programs, such as onXmpas , work on Delorme Base Camp which is for windows and does not require any internet access to use. They also have a google maps version which does require internet access, as does this map on Calguns. It is still very helpful, just means I have to get everything needed for a trip before leaving the house and internet behind.

Anyways, Thanks for making this version, very useful !

If you hit the "share" icon next to the twitter icon you'll see an option for "Download KML". A lot of mapping applications support reading in that format.
