Default 'Best' Powder for .40SW

CG'ers,

What is the 'best' powder for .40SW? I am going to reload 155 gr. Hornady XTP's with Longshot (for target) and am just wondering what your experience is with this Hodgdon powder.

Thanks,
jwest

I load 5.0 gr Universal under a 180 fmj and they are comparable to Federal red box through the chrony. I like HP-38 also, good results and reduced recoil.

VV N320....clean......and you might like a heavier bullet like a 180gr for a softer feel.....

N320, 3.8gr, 180gr MGJHP...oal 1.130

231 is way dirty.....cheap though

Another for AA5. I just started using this and I really like it. Clean compared to others, like Win 231.

I ran aa5 for a while then swap to aa2. Less charge, same velocity and I get more out loads per lbs.

AA2 for a shorter barreled 40, fullsize frame i'd still stay with AA5 though, you'll be able to make use of the powder burn more efficiently.
