Question WHAT is this knife, & WHERE did it come from?!

What I know about knives, you could store in a thimble... with room left over for a Subway 6' party sub ... SOOOOO...

WHAT in the freep IS this - and WHERE could it have come from?!?! Iraqi/Afghani bring-back from the wars? Something made in somebody's garage? Your guess is as good as any - feel free to throw some out!

Apologies in advance for my craptacular photography. If you want a pic of some other part of it, let me know. Can't find a maker's mark, serial #, or other sort of identifying emblem on it, so I DO think it's 'homemade.'

Beyond that?!

Looks like some sort of Persian ceremonial knife.

It's probably a Kirpan, worn by the Sikhs.

Looks like a indo-Persian style hilt and sheath, but blade seems odd and looks as though someone took a grinder to it. Maybe it had rust but I would see if under hilt if any markings.

It's a paperweight or a letter opener, nothing more.

It looks like a Moroccan Jambiya.

Can't find any markings, and the metal IS certainly well-ground. Really can't tell what kind of metal it was BEFORE it was ground. Definitely ferrous/steel (magnet sticks to it), but was it a car fender, I-beam, T-34 piece, et.al. in a previous life? I'm thinking "knife blade" is NOT it's FIRST incarnation.

If not a ceremonial blade, than that's my next guess. Seems it'd be awfully SLIPPERY in combat, given the handle's smooth finish.

Agree with others. My money is on a kirpan. Largely symbolic & not utilitarian.

It's a tourist piece made to be sold in the little markets to people looking for souvenirs. It's not a Kirpan. It is a Jambiya, an Arab styled knife like the one in Lawrence of Arabia. They are found all over the Arab world from Morrocco to Yemen and differ a lot from the Turkish and Persian knives. Yours looks like the Morroccan style. I have several.
