Well, I had my initial application on 11/08/10. I received my approval letter at the end of November, and I got my LiveScan approval in the mail a day or so before Christmas (awesome Christmas present). I've already made an appointment to turn in my final paperwork and will take my class next week. So with any luck, I should have my license in hand by early or mid February.

Felony? Just kidding. If the results of the Livescan is already processed, I would drop Amber an email. Perhaps, the results have been lost in the mail and DOJ needs to resend. Amber won't send an approval letter til she gets a hardcopy in hand. From what I've seen/heard, 2 months is too long.

I started my CCW Training today at ASI which is at Cordova Shooting Center. Terry seems like he's genuinely interested in helping whomever he teaches to know the laws and the proper use of force per the laws. Basically helping keep CCW holders out of jail/prison and hopefully avoiding as much if not all court costs if possible.

Mine were also submitted on the 20th. Electronic notification was received several days ago, but no paper copy has arrived.

I know it takes up to thirty days, and the average is twenty. I was just hoping it would be sooner.

Even if that is the case... how long will it then take for the notification to be mailed to you about your background results? If it's like the apporval letter for the CCW itself that will add on another 10 days wait.

Well the wait is over. It started with my wife telling me to stop whining and go apply. So in April of 2010 I went to Placer county courthouse and started gathering documents for a good cause statement. Not going to boar you with the GC details. By June I had all the documents in order and a couple of Calgun members assisted me in tweaking the language for my "Good Cause" letter. After several attempts Amber responded on June 22 2010. My appointment was scheduled for July15th. Dropped off the application and the wait was on. I waited more than 90 days for my approval letter and more than 30 days for my DOJ to come back. Finally on December 28th my permit arrived to my house while I was out of town, no slip was found on my door or in my mailbox. So today I contact Amber and she tells me it was mailed to my house. She gave me the tracking number. I went to the Post Office today and there it was. Finally...........
June 22nd 2010 - Jan. 4th 2010 It was a long wait.
My wife said "I told you so" you dont get if you dont ask.

XXXOOO to my wife and CalGuns. In a hetero kind of way.

Turns out that my October prints simply vanished. They offered to do the prints again at no charge, so I lost over two months, while they said to "keep waiting". Should be moving forward once again though.

Got my letter from Amber for the final paperwork. Already went online and made an appointment. By the time I get that piece of paper in my hands it will be mid February.

Dropped app off in November.

Worth the wait.

I have my first Sac county appointment in late January. I was skeptical that permits are really being issued but it seems they are. Could those of you who have gone through the process comment on the good cause statements used? The consensus seems to be to limit it to "Self defense" or "defense of self and family."

Also, what guns have you listed, and how many? I have a small Kahr pistol, and a 1911, and was going to go with one or both. One came to me from a parent, so wouldn't show up registered to me - I'm concerned that might cause a problem and so might not use that one. Any input on that would help - I'm trying to avoid creating problems for myself. Thanks,

T

Go here http://calgunsfoundation.org/index.p...122-sacramento and follow the directions for good cause its really that simple. I emailed Amber about having guns registered to my father or wife on my permit. She said as long as you have permission to have the guns you may place them on your permit, but I would transfer them as soon as possible. It just seems like a good idea to have everything in your name. Ill be carrying a kahr, p238 and a Glock.

It is simply one sentence on letterhead. "I wish to carry a firearm in self defense". That's it!

You can list up to three handguns, but no more than three, on your application and thus your permit.

Sorry to hear 'bout your predicament. A few days after you do your (new) Livescan call (916) 227 - 4557 and check on the status. From the people I've heard, Livescan gets the results pretty quickly (a day or two) and then sends Amber the results electronically but she will not continue with the process until she gets a hard copy in hand (approximately 20-30 days).

Perhaps you won't waste another two months waiting for nothing if you check on the status.

Also, from what I've heard... The Short Shotty, Draco, and AR pistol don't count towards your CCW.

From time of DOJ approval to time of final letter mailed was 8 days. I received the letter yesterday two days after it was mailed.

I went in for LiveScan on December 20th, this letter was generated on December 21st, but took this long to get it.

That would be awesome to have a mailman return later in the shift to drop off a CCW. I hope I'm on your route when mine comes at some point.

Ya with the amount of appointments left for tomorrow it seems as if they may not have even had them listed for that day at all initially.
