Default Flashlights at Staples Center

Was at the Kings game last night (11 rows behind the King's bench). The front door security told me I could not bring in my Surefire flashlight. And no, it was not attached to my weapon. What's next, pens and pencils? This is driving me crazy. At least the Kings won.

Well there is a stupid policy. Earthquake lights go out, and you have what 18,000 people in the dark in a panic, good plan. Having been at a large venue when the lights went out it was a amazing how much people calmed down when a few people had lights, and that was outdoors.

I’ve never been stopped or prevented from bringing in my flashlight. I always carry my Streamlight Protac 2L. At an absolute bare minimum (i.e. pro sports, Disneyland, etc.), I always have that flashlight on me.

Weird that they didn’t let you. I could see them stopping me from bringing my Surefire P2X Fury Defender because it has a pretty wicked crennelated bezel on there.

I can't imagine the reason a flashlight was not allowed, but most every smart phone has a flashlight option.
Might want to research how to activate it in case of a power failure.

What type of flashlight was it? Did it have a strike bezel or anything weird on it?

iPhone light will work wonders if you’re worried about an earthquake.

P3X Fury Tactical. No strike bezel. The girl at the entrance said no flashlights period and could not state a reason.

At a kings game?? Common sense would tell me that the reason for them not being allowed is that a person in the past has used them to blind the players (free throws, taking last minute shots...) I get the reasoning for having them, but I can also see why they would not be permitted at an indoor competition game.

Just one more reason why I try not to give any business to Staples and places like that! My brother has had season tickets for the Kings for like the past 15-20 years and I only go with him like once every 5-7 years, on a special occasion.

looks like the reason to ban flashlights, but seems easier to deal with misuses on an individual basis - since I believe most flashlight carriers are like me, not likely to be stupid with it.

Ummm....

"Kings" +"Staples Center" (Los Angeles) = Hockey.

"Kings" + "Golden 1 Center" (Sacramento) = Basketball.

So......you can be bought.

You should also realize that Staples doesn't own "Staples Center". Staples pays a significant "naming fee" to put its name on the building.

But, the Anschutz Entertainment Group owns the Los Angeles Kings, Los Angeles Galaxy and Staples Center. AEG is owned by the Anschutz Company, which is run by Denver billionaire Philip Anschutz.
