Should be a wave of approval letters coming out any day. The "board" is supposedly meeting twice a month now and they'd just met the day before I put my application on 6/8. Fingers crossed!

Going in at 8:30 for my appointment, I should have no problems, fingers crossed.

My appt was actually at 8:45, I set it early in my schedule Good thing as I was here at 8:32. The desk officer was very friendly and gave me a blank sheet to fill out my reason for request. There was an area for the reasons in the interview portion so I didn't fill out a seperate sheet.

I'm now waiting upstairs in the interview area. I need to emphasize how courteous and professional everyone is.

Finished my second interview, piece of cake. Now it's about a 4 week wait as the board doesn't meet again for another 2 weeks....

It only took me a week to get the approval letter back after Livescan, which was last week. That is of course with a clean record and already being the system. I would get the training done ASAP since certain popular instructors fill up their classes pretty fast.

Has anybody posted the size of the Sac CCW? My wife is looking to get me a cred case since I am retiring from one dept. and going to another. My current creds are all 2 1/8 by 3 3/8, same as a DMV drivers license.

I think I saw you in the upstairs waiting area, I was at 8:15 and was awaiting my escort to leave. The whole process was fairly painless

It is larger than any other card you have, or will have. Most of us have to trim the lamination just to fit the oversized thing in our wallets. And then it still to big.

My son had heart surgery and when I got back from San Francisco I had an approval letter in the mail.

I'm glad you got your letter, but am more concerned about your son. How did the surgery go? Adult son, or child? God bless.

My Sac CCW is 3" by 3 15/16". The length has been trimmed as much as
I could without destroying the lamination. I did not trim the 3" height,
but could easily remove another 3/16". In any event, still too big for any
of the usual slots axcept the bill storage area.

The one with the 3 card holder, larger holder and then ID pocket on the reverse side.

They're all the same just different colors if I remember correctly.

Are any of you going to Sac County for your CCW scheduling your second appointment before going to your first or even at the same time scheduling your first appointment?
My initial appt is Sept 21, and my LiveScan should bounce back quick. I just had a scan done for Sac PD and it was back in 36 hrs.

It's against how they want it done, wait your time and be courteous. People scheduling their 'final' appointment b4 getting their final letter end up canceling and rescheduling multiple appointments. Fact is the SSD pulls your records unnecessarily preparing for you for nothing, budget is tight and having them do work for nothing is inconsiderate and a waste of time. You can't predict much in this process, especially waiting times for approvals.

Get a hobby, wait and enjoy, it'll be yours soon.

That's a fact! Don't count yer chickens. I counted mine and they ain't hatched yet. I think sometimes I hear 'em in there, scratchin' at the insides of the shells with their beaks and their tiny little claws, but I could just be hearin' things;-)

Took my live scan today. She said one of the copies needed to go back to Amber???

My son will be 4 in October. He has what's called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. The left side of his heart never developed. They had to basically re-plumb the way his heart works to only use one side. He has had 3 surgeries now. The first one when he was 6 days old, the second at 6 months, and the third at three and a half. This should be his last one unless they do a minor repair down the road. He might need to have a stent installed in his aorta when he isn't growing anymore. That depends if the leak in his valve doesn't get better.

All that aside he's doing great and you would never be able to tell something was wrong with him unless you saw him without his shirt on.

hmm still haven't got my livescan back...hope nothing came while I was on vacation and somehow it got lost in the "shuffle". I went in to have it done on 6/17. Was I supposed to send any paperwork to Amber? The lady who did my livescan didn't say anything about needing to do that.

No, you don't send any of that paperwork to Amber. You wait to see what DOJ does. It takes a few days for some people, longer for others. I'd never had a live scan before the one I did for SSD, and I had two decades-old inked print cards on file. Because of this, it took DOJ 5 weeks to complete my background check. It varies a lot, but like I said, most people's results are completed quickly, especially if they've had previous live scans done. There's an automated phone number you can call to check on your progress with DOJ. I've forgotten it, but it was posted on one of these threads by someone a few weeks or months ago, IIRC. You'll need your ATI number in order to access the automated system.

Guys I have a question about my training certificate. My instructor did not initial the guns listed on my certificate and I just noticed it now. I gave him a call and he stated since he wrote in the models and serials on the certificate, I should be good to go. His initial is only necessary if I had wrote in the information myself and he signed off on it. Since it's in his hand writing I should be fine. Any of you guys successfully submitted your training certificate without initials? My sign off date is coming up in less than a week and I want to make sure I don't waste my time and get it kicked back. I've emailed Amber, but still waiting for a reply.

They must send out a lot of them at the same time. Got home today and found a USPS pink slip for a missed delivery.

A bit premature since I dont have it in hand yet but here is my timeline:

Sceduled first appointment early Jan 2011.
Initial interview: 5/12
Received initial approval letter: 5/31
Live scan: 6/1
Training: 6/11-6/12
Final approval letter: 6/13
Final appointment: 6/21
Missed USPS: 6/28
Picking up permit tomorrow 6/29!!

I feel kind of sad now that its just about over

I can honestly tell you that after 96 days, I definitely feel nothing at all similar to sadness.:-)

Interesting to know. The lady who did my livescan kept one copy of the paperwork, handed me two and told me one goes back to Amber. A message left at Amber's desk has gone unanswered.

Now the waiting game

Weird...Unless they've changed it since I scanned in April, either you misheard her or she was wrong.

Same for me, one went to the LS tech, one to my file and one to Amber when I signed my permit.

I must have given it to them when I signed. Maybe I forgot. If I've forgotten what I may or may not have forgotten, then that means I am in a state of meta-forgetfulness and need more coffee ASAP.

In the interview, I told them I lived in several states prior to moving back here in '96. I wonder if it causes a delay doing checks in all those states?

The livescan clearance letter can take from 1 week to a few months to hit amber's desk. She then notifies you to make the final appointment. I got word from her on a Wednesday and had my permit in hand the following Saturday.Had I waited till after hearing from her to schedule the training, it may have added3, 4 or more weeks to the process. Get your training done
asap. You don't want to drag this out any longer than necessary.
If you've been following "old bald guy". He was just about ready for the rubber room and a straight jacket when he finally finished the process
