Default 20" AR's - Let's see 'em

Going through the AR galleries, it's 98% 16" barrels. I'm interested in 20's.

Sold this 20" a while back. I regretted it, so now I'm working on a new one
I think the 20" setup is my favorite.

Before anyone asks "Why the hell did you do that?", I'll answer it. Simply, I've never seen another one like it. When talking with Jessie and Eric down at JD Machine, they told me about an idea, and I couldn't help myself, so I bit and did it.

What you're looking at below, is a standard JD Machine "multi cal" upper and lower in 5.56. both were cut and pulled from the batch prior to powdercoating, and were sent out for polish. They were hand-polished by a guy who builds custom rims for cars and trucks, and honestly, it came out better than i expected!

Parts List:

JD Machine 5.56 Upper w/ USMC logo on magwell
JD Machine 5.56 Lower
20" Bushmaster Stainless Steel barrel
20" YHM full-length Quad Rail
Sniper Grip
Harris Bipod & mount
Hawke-Frontier 8-32x50 (HK3372) scope
A.R.M.S. #19 Throw mount
DPMS lower parts kit
BCM Gunfighter charging handle
Magpul PRS AR10 (.308 for the extra 1" cheek relief)
Magpul trigger guard
Magpul RVG
Magpul B.A.D. Lever
Bullet Button for compliancy w/ the Republik of Kalifornia

Each picture has a link underneath to the full-size high-res photo so you can see the detail.

Thanks for offering it! I was able to get it done by a pro, instead of doing a hackjob myself. I'm pretty pleased w/ how it turned out!

i started a thread once asking if anyone had done a fully polished AR http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=274237

i think you should go all the way and get that hand gaurd and stainless barrel polished too.

Thanks guys. Here are the specs for you to mull over...:

Upper: BCM A4 20in.
BCG/Bolt: BCM Auto
Charging Handle: BCM Gunfighter Mod 3
Forearm: Knights M5
Magpul AFG
Optic: Burris Ar-332 w/Aimpoint Kill Flash
BUIS: Matech GI 100-600yd flip up
Lower: Noveske N4 (custom engraved)
LPK: Rock River
Magpul B.A.D. Lever
Bullet Button: CA-15BS (Available here on the forums)
Grip: Magpul MIAD, OD Green (Probably gonna change out the back strap to a bigger one)
Magazine: Magpul Snubby 10rd.
Stock: A2, OD Green
GG&G Agency style Sling Keeper
Knights Armament Trigger Guard

My goal as I selected parts for this rifle was to have the battle rifle I had from the Marine Corps with some of my own enhancements. So far I have to say mission accomplished on that front. Still need to get out the the range though to try out that sight, I just got it the other day and haven't had the time to take her out and run her.

USMC amtraker - how do you like the burris in place of the acog? It's what I'd probably going on top of my A4 clone.

Never tried an ACOG, those are way out of my budget. Hell, it took me a year to get the rifle this far, lol! Maybe when I win the lottery I can slap a TA31RCOA4 on there and let you know, until then we'll see how the Burris handles. I am used to iron sights, this is my first optic, on an AR anyway.

Mine's FINALLY finished! Happy early birthday to me, and done in time for Appleseed on the 16th! Built it completely from parts, only complete assembly on the rifle was the LMT BCG.

Stats after the pics.

Lower:
Spike's lower
MIAD w/trigger guard
BAD Lever
A2 stock (built from a mix of parts)
Stag trigger with JP reduced power spring kit and 15 min trigger job

Upper:
DSA ZM4 upper
DSA 1/7 20" fluted HBAR Chrome Moly Nitride barrel
YHM muzzle brake
KAC M5 RAS (1994)
LMT M16 BCG
BCM/VLTOR Gunfighter CH
Matech 600m BUIS
RVG

8-9lbs loaded on my ghetto bathroom scale, and the trigger is as smooth as butter. I'm happy as a clam with it.

I'm deciding on an optic after Appleseed. It's a tossup between an Eotech +magnifier or an ACOG.
