For those of you wondering what an X300 Ultra looks like on a Glock 17/19/21/34
My Surefire X300 Ultra FINALLY showed up (ordered back in November), so my GEN 4 G34 Nightstand Gun is complete. I figured I might as well get some shots of it on a few different Glock models in case anyone wanted to see them. This thing would look ridiculous on a G26, but unfortunately I don't have one to illustrate.

I have the X300 and I want to get a holster for my G17 with the X300 mounted, *BUT* I want the X300 Ultra. So I've been holding off until I finally decide to shell out and wait for the Ultra. Plus, I'm not sure if the X300 Ultra fits in holsters designed for the X300, or if I'll have to wait for holster manufacturers to come up with a new mold.

I have one on my g19, and it is bright against white malls and mirrors, but unless you are staring at the point it shines against you won't blind yourself. I got an email earlier from DSG arms saying they were in stock if people were looking for them

After letting my eyes adjust to the dark for a little while, I ran it through my house last night. It is definitely bright, but like many other X300Ultra owners have said, the 500 lumens seem to be distributed perfectly. The hot spot is fairly broad, with tons of spill. It's more of a flood compared to the original X300 (which seems to have a tighter hot spot with much less spill). I don't have any white walls in my house, and I know where all the windows & mirrors are, so that's not a huge concern for me. Plus you can point it at the floor, and the spill will still pretty much light up the whole room. This is my first WML, and I'm extremely happy with it. I got it for $209 & to me it was worth every penny.

I didn't notice any distracting/annoying tint to the light. Does the tint you see bother you for some reason? If they do actually have a greenish tint, maybe that's why the beam is so nice. If it were ultra white/blue, maybe it really would be too much for indoors. I don't have much experience with flashlights, so I'm not too picky just yet.

The X300 Ultra's lens is longer then the X300. Unless the X300 holster had a lot of extra space in there an Ultra isn't going to fit.

I like my X300 more. For some reason, I just don't like the way the light looks and the extra length of the light regardless with the increase in lumens, but that's just me. Streamlight will be coming out soon with the TLR-1 HL with no change in design, just 600 lumens of white light.

I am not bothered by the greenish tint but it is just different from the other SF lights. I agree with the other posters that the ultra is a tad too big. That's why I will be using it on my shotgun instead.
By the way, you have a really nice gen 4 collection there! |
