Default Any Update On The URSA 3K?

I heard our own Focus was on a roll but no confirmation. Heard the lights were going off at 3130 yards?

Why aren't you there?

At the monthly match yesterday, enough shooters had 4 hits at 2600 and change to take the match to 3K. Focus got the hit at 3130 for the win.

At the 3K match today, he was the only shooter with 4 hits at 2600 so it was done.

The URSA was using the RTAC IRIS the last time I shot with them. It's been out of production for about a year.

For our own range, we got away from lights and cameras on immovable steel monoliths and went with highly reactive slowly consumable targets.

That was an ELR rock star weekend for him.

I'm looking forward to the official report.

You’re not serious are you?

Go buy the epoxy, go buy the magnets , modify the light and make it work.

Focus has really been hitting 2500+ yards pretty hard lately. Great to see 3000 in his bag of tricks too

Default 3k

Focus showed us what was up this weekend! Amazing shooting Focus! Looking forward to shooting with you again! Always a pleasure.

I made him work for it on Saturday. We both pushed it out to 3126 yards. They had to stop and set up target at that distance. Once we started shooting mirage was a *****. He got one hit and I just danced around it. It was pretty rough shooting at a floating blob...my hat is off to him!

Sunday, Focus took the match right from the go, we started at 2630 and he collected his 4 hits, there were 4 of us who hit it twice, so we had a shoot off for 2nd. We took a vote and did the shoot off at 3126 yards. Scott hit it twice. I hit it once in my 3 practice rounds, but only once during my 10 for score!

Nice shooting Scott! So Focus and Scott were your winners and runner up on the 3K. It was a blast and we missed the rest of the Norcal crew on the firing line.

Hey Shaun
I still haven't got the bolt lift kit in that 338 Savage yet. I have all the pieces now just can't get it adjusted yet.
I missed the match because I had to replace most of the front-end of my truck. The differential had to be rebuilt then hubs halfshafts pitman arm idler arm and a rebuilt steering box.

On the lights we are still using the Roberts Tactical lights but we are testing the T1000's as well.
The velcro isn't really a problem. Once you activate the lights any movement makes them go off so having the velcro let's you remove the light for traveling.
I have only used the T1000 at 2000 yards and you can see it through the scope very easily because it mounts on the target.
It isn't as bright as the Roberts Tactical lights so you need to look through your scope to see the hits.

Hognuts
Tell Curt I am mailing him the little chair.

I think Focus had told him that too, but I will remind him. I think it belonged to his brother who is no longer with us. So his chair has sentimental value. Iím sure he will be stoked to get it back.

It was a fun match. Fred did an outstanding job. Thanks Fred.

The conditions were good both days. At least compared to some of the high wind matches they usually hold in SoCal. Sunday was overcast and the targets were easier to see. There were thermals blowing through and some shooters had wind reversals during their strings. Just enough chaos to keep a shooter honest.

Saturday's shoot out at 3K was the highlight for me. Hognuts was splashing all around that orange blob. I got lucky that round. Three shooters went after the 3K target for the first time on on Sunday. I was impressed with how well they did. One got hits even though his bullets were impacting nose down by 45 degrees. The other two were putting 338 bullets very close to the gong. I think the SoCal guys will be pushing their matches to 3K soon.

Cheers,

I was thinking if we did matches on Saturday we could shoot like we did at first 2 distances in am. If it proceeds to the 3126 distance. Set target up and have a break until an hour before sunset and finish the match in good visibility. (Don’t get me wrong, not *****ing, I got beat by the better shooter the other day, but Kurt and I camped out there and looking at target with those light conditions was amazing. I could use full magnification without mirage. Edges of target were crisp. Something to think about.)

Will do Shaun but it won't be for a couple weeks.
Lots of projects need finishing.
