I went with the Cera-Plate II coating on the slide and it's absolutely fantastic. It's not "full silver" like a nickle plating or whatever. It's got a slight sand-lume hue to almost, is smooth to the touch, self lubricating, easy to clean and you can tell it's very hard and durable.

Makes me want to dig around my safe and find the next thing to send their way.

My Springfield Loaded at the Wild Bunch match in September. Stock except the RAASCO grip panels, mag release and mag release spring. So much fun!

My family is growing too

Clockwise, from left; Dan Wesson Commander Classic, Kimber Custom II (designated .22 pistol), Springfield TRP, Kimber Ultra CDP II. I’m thinking the TRP needs a new cerakote job or something. Other than that, I’m happy.

Here's a pic of my sig 1911 target nitron it's one of the older model slides without the ejection port milled. This was the first gun I ever bought and still my favorite probably 3k+ rounds through it still tight as can be.

Colt Series 70 Mk. IV Government Model (all original w/ idiot love mark)
Springfield TRP with Streamlight TLR-1

Finally had time to take a few pics and upload them. The picture of the Colt doesn't do it any justice of how rich the bluing the is.

I love the minor idiot scratch on the TRP Operator, as well as the blem on the frame below "CAL" on the slide.

Don't you folks have access to a bit of cold blue for touch-ups? Especially for photos you want to post?

I have never had a problem with the Government hammer and Government grip safety. Maybe I have JMB hands.

Almost every 1911 I see on Calguns has a beavertail GS and a skeleton Commander-type hammer.

Is that really necessary or is it a cool factor?

As opposed to the TRP Operator, I would rather have the Series 70 without the A1 mainspring housing, the collet bushing, and the miniscule sights. All easily replaced if one knows 1911 pistols, and I have plenty of parts. I am not a Colt purist but want a dependable gun.

I have no need for the bling. It is a tool, unless one wants a BBQ gun. No need for the rail, light, and the magwell. Are you going to war?

If a determined perp is going to do you harm during a home invasion, the light is a dead giveaway as to where the gun is. It used to be standard practice to wield the flashlight with the off hand away from the body and use the strong hand to hit the perp center of mass.

At 65 I guess I am old school.

Carry on...

Jim
