Default Worse 5 seconds of my life

I had my Taser class yesterday and oh man
It was so painful, but I am so glad I did it because I now know what it feels like to get tased. I hope I never have to go through that ever again
Still, I rather get tased anytime than get sprayed by OC spray lol..

My lower back is so sore right now

The first TASER exposure is NOT the worst. Since you don't really know what to expect it takes you by surprise.

I have unfortunately been tased three times. The anticipation gets worse each time.

Now before everyone jumps in and says, "Well you should have followed the officer's orders," the exposures were done for instruction or demonstration purposes.

Which TASER did they use?

I agree with that. I've been tased three times as well. The first was the easiest. I'm not sure I found it necessarily painful. Incredibly weird and uncomfortable. The strangest thing was making noise (I kind of squeal) but with the awareness that i wasn't even in control of my own voice box.
My biggest fear the first time, in my ignorance, was actually that i would cr** my pants.

It's really amazing how quick you recover from a 5 second ride. a friend of mine, retired LEO, gave some aggressive twit what was probably a 25 second ride with a C2. I think his muscles were so exhausted in just 25 seconds he had to go to the hospital via ambulance.
A C2 works pretty good on dogs too, just turn it sideways. Got a pink one for my wife for horseback riding. Pitbull insurance to a degree.

I don't know what you guys are complaining about. When I went thru the Taser training, it was in the early days of Tasers. We shot the darts at a foil target and it was really scary.

We douse our targets with OC, then tase. Works better at night. You can literally illuminate the whole neighborhood. And toast marshmallows.

I personally think that tasing and OC spray are better alternatives than getting choked out during carotid training.. Passed out, nose bleeding everywhere, then waking up 20 seconds later, jumping up, and running around in a circle trying to figure out who/where I was and who the hell are all these people staring at me like I'm a freak show..

I have seen many situations QUICKLY de-escalate by the sound of a taser. For us, the taser is the equivalent to using OC spray - by that I mean its considered the same level of force. Which is interesting considering 2 prongs are being fired and lodged into the skin

Ive done that 5 second ride a couple of times. Hated every one of them lol. I do think if your going to carry the taser, you should definitely understand how it feels to be on the other end of one

Before being issued the taser, we are expected to take the ride. Its optional, but 99.9% will do it. Ive seen many females take it like a champ, where the guys whine like little babies.

Screw that. The ride isn't required in Florida for certification and I have been shocked enough working on avionics. I didn't take the ride. Probably for the best too, because I was sick as a dog that day and would probably have shat myself.

I've never been tased, but I DID light up an arc welder while standing in a puddle of water once. 20 volts DC at 400 amps. It threw me back about eight feet. I landed on a large I-beam. Man, was THAT painful! It felt like someone hit me in the chest with a sledge hammer.

Your incident reminded me of when I was 19 and in what we then called Junior College (Community College now). I attended Rio Hondo JC in the hills of Whittier. One day, while driving my 1963 VW bug, my car suddenly sounded like it was running on 3 cylinders and the car stopped going uphill. Turns out it was running on 3 cylinders since one of the spark plugs, with the wire still attached, had come out of the engine.

I tried to put it back in the spark plug hole. My mistake was the engine was still running and I got knocked back about 6'. That hurt!

File this under STUPID:

The weekend prior to our OC spray exposure, our regular academy study group met at a local pizza parlor to go over material and have a pie.

There was a lot of apprehension in the group about O.C., and I explained that it was nothing more than ground up chili powder in aerosol form. To demonstrate that there was nothing to fear, I poured some of the red ground chili from the glass condiment jar at our table and started RUBBING IT IN MY OWN EYES.

Within 30 seconds, I was in agony as my partners walked my blubbering butt to the restroom past all the curious patrons. I was still flushing my eyes in the parking lot an hour later as everyone else told me what a dypsh*t I was as they walked to their cars.

Cool

Had a big printing press quit in the middle of a run once.

Looked underneath and said " I see the problem, a wire came loose", that's the part I remember.

I'm told that I fixed the press and qualified for the North American Break-Dancing Finals all at the same time.
