Current rimfire optics?
Bought a few new .22s recently. Anything out there to tempt me away from a fixed 4X (usually the Leupold)? I'm staying at a 1" tube and would like to stay under 12 ounces or so. The FX-1 is under 8.

Did not think I would like a red dot sight. Bought a rifle that came with one. Was surprised by how much I liked it. Have a Burris Fastfire 3 on a 10-22 that is one of my current range favorites.

A friend let me try out his Primary Arms Classic Series 6x32 ACSS .22LR scope and it made me want to buy one for my .22LR rifles.

My Henry Golden Boy has the Leupold 2x7 33mm scope, works great, very light. The AR-22 has the VX Freedom 33mm 3x9, 12 oz and super clear. I liked that scope so much I put one on the Cal Guns AR.

Vortex or primary arms, no reason to pay more for rimfire glass. One of my rimfire rifles has a cheap Simmons ($40) 3x9 on it, sub 2 at 50 all day with bulk ammo and holds zero from day one. Why pay more then you need for a 22 plinker.

I was just on the hunt last week for such glass for a 10/22 LVT build up for Appleseed. Have the Leupy 2-7x on another 10/22 and like it but was expanding the search this time around and lucked upon a Weaver 3-9x AO on sale N a t c h e z seems to have rotating sale on their weaver stuff and I should have bought more bc it’s now over, but keep an eye on it maybe they come back around on July 4th sales. Check out Weaver RV7 or RV9 now discontinued but with limited availability, Weaver also had a 4x rimfire that was available last week discounted and I’m kicking myself bc now it’s sold out. Seems like all the rimfire production models ate being discontinued by major manufacturers with the exception of Nikons. In researching the Weavers they were compared favorably to Clearidge scopes but I have no experience.

This is what I have on my 1022 takedown, great bang for the buck! Lightweight and plenty clear. |

I had a red dot (vortex sprac) on my comp10/22, but I was thinking of getting that Vortex crossfire 2-7.
Recently, I have been entertaining the idea of a basic 4x32.... Any suggestions? Looking for quick acquisition for transitions, as well as shoot off into the distance (100yds) if need be. |

The Leupold VX-Freedom 2x7 rimfire is better than the Vortex. It costs about $200. It does not have a parallax adjustment, preset to 100 yards. The 3x9 Freedom 33mm does have it and it's better for shorter distances. 9x is rather sharp too.

The mostly stock 10-22 carbine has an older Nikon ProStaff 2-7. Nice optic, doesn't weigh much, and the parallax is set at 60yds. The other 10-22, fitted with a Kidd bull barrel, has a Leupold VX freedom rimfire 3-9. Weighs a little more than the Nikon, nicer glass, and a better MOA reticle. The cz 455 .22mag has a 4-12 Sightron S1H-Tac AO with a mil-dot reticle. Not crazy about the reticle, but it works. It's the heaviest of the bunch but still weighs less than a pound, and the glass is about as good as the VX.
Very happy with all of the scopes. They work well for each rifles' purpose.

Currently Gunmagwarehouse.com has Weaver Kaspra for $50, that's like $100 off. It includes rings and lens covers, but no box. It's a pretty proper scope, not the best but amazing...especially for $50.

It doesn't quite have your weight requirements but this scope has been great for me on a few different guns:
https://www.amazon.com/Nikon-Prostaf.../dp/B007PXVR5C With the bolt action $250 savage it currently sits on it feels like cheating at 25/50/100yards that I shoot that gun at. |

I just took my Nikon prostaff rimfire 3-9x40 off my new build. I don't have any plans on putting on anything right now. It'll probably end up living in its box

The Henry got the 2x7 33mm Leupold because I couldn't 'see' putting foreign glass on the Henry. The 3x9 Vortex Crossfire is good for $140 but it is too large and heavy for rimfire. That one lives on the AR-47. Old farts like me need glass to focus or I waste ammo scattering into the blur. |

I should have my Vortex scope and rings delivered by the end of the week, so hope to have them mounted up and the new trigger pack installed as well. But, I will 100% agree with you. My old eyes need the adjustable parallax and side focus. Shooting with a budget scope (Nikon set at 50 yards, or the Vortex set at 100) without adjustable parallax and focus really sucks. You can mess with the reticle focus some to get the target in focus, but then the crosshairs are just a blur. Or have sharp crosshairs and the target is blurry. Outside is easier to shoot, but dimly lit indoor ranges really test my patience when using a scope that isnt set up right. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |

I picked up a Nikon 1-4X African #4 to try out on one of my AR's and now it lives on a 10/22 I customized. 1" tube, 12oz, and nice glass. I like it a lot. Paid $189, but now I think they discontinued it.
