New AB Regs? You mean the one that shut down diving for ABs for the next 5 Years?

According to the new 2019 regs it seems AB hunting is back for this year—3/day fewer months though and maybe less area—maybe above Fort Ross BUT back on which is a bit of a shocker. Check them yourself to be sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Went on Thursday, quick walk through fishing section but most of time in hunting pavilions, lots of deer and elk outfitters. Successful pig hunting clinic with Casey Stafford was good, as guy was not trying to push gear, just started talking about hunting and let conversation follow suggestions from crowd.
Most benefit for me was talking with warden from Idaho and later in day listening to presentation. Idaho has a lot to offer and tags are reasonably priced. I was considering trying elk in Colorado this year as family living there but now thinking Idaho.

I went, I spent. Kids got some stickers. Same ol' same ol' to me. Most interesting thing was the Liberty Safe sale.
JJ Lares had their 2018 remake of the old A2 call...

I went. Some interesting hunts but I did not book since I booked an elk hunt in Utah at the SCI convention. Much the same people there but some new vendors. I go every year so I was use to what would be there. Still enjoyed it. My buddy bought a fishing pole. I handed out discount entry coupons at the gate before we went in as I had a stack of them.

I’m still unsure why they don’t kick this show two weeks to the right. It takes up a prime hunting day right before the end of the season... for that reason, I haven’t gone the last few years. If it were early February, I’d go.

If it was held in February there would be few Outfitters. Most need to book hunts by mid January. Overall I thought the show wasn't as good as previous years and I've been going there since it first started. I went Thursday and it was a good time to go as there were fewer people. Q |

If you look at the ISE Schedule (my work sucks and of course blocks the f'in website) the shows are spaced every couple weeks or so. In the past there used to be 4 of them across the west coast including one in the bay area (that one is gone).
The only hunters it really effects is the duck guys but yeah I'm one of them and so I'd rather hunt my blind since I'm not in the market for buying an out of state hunt this year. If you haven't been the spectacle is pretty cool. I sat through a seminar by Guy Eastman the last time I went which was very interesting.

Those who hunt planters don’t care because that isn’t affected. I really do wish they’d kick it out two weeks or pull it back a few. BullElk has a good point. If they pulled it further in season I would probably go. But at the end of season I like to get those last few hunts in.

I went on Saturday and thought it was more crowded than usual, though it's been a couple of years since I've gone. I was more interested in the fishing/boating aspect of the show for this trip.
Ended up finding a good deal on an Avet reel from Turner's. It was 20% off and included free braid and a free Daiwa shirt. Couldn't pass it up. My buddy picked up an Okuma reel for $40, marked down from $90. It was a good day.

Haven't been since the late 90's. Used to be able to book some great cheap hunts and find lots interesting use information, books, seminars etc. that is all on the internet now. Nope dont need overpriced jerky either.

Went Sunday. Usual stuff. Saw a MAN overland 6x6 that was ridiculous but cool. Bought jerky and olives and a couple beers. Besides hunting and fishing trips and packages they really dont sell much there. Kind of disappointing.

Same as most years. Crowded. Way too costly beer and drinks. Bought a **** ton of Wild Trout shirts for $5 each, same as every year. Bought new yellow Sabre rod, like everyone else there, for $19.99, a real steal. Came home tired again. Have to point out that the hunting section was wanting this year. Fewer guides, fewer displays.
