Default Recommend training in SF Bay Area

I feel the need to some training. I'm in the SF Bay Area and I've done a few classes at Reed's (including with the late Louis Awerbuck) but there doesn't seem to be much else around. Last year I did a class at Richmond with Op Spec. Anything else I should look at?

I can recommend Direct Action Group / TFTT. They offer classes both down south here at Burro Canyon and up north at the Sacramento Valley Shooting Center.

Legit tactical training from consummate military and LE professionals. They are focused primarily on Law Enforcement and Military training / contracts around the country / world but also run classes locally for civilians looking for high quality tactical training.

ProTip; Read the resumes of anyone you are going to pay to train you...What are their qualifications to teach what they teach? If there are no bio's / resumes.. move on.

Check out DSC ( Defensive Shooting Club )they shoot at Metcalf couple times a month. Primarily pistol, but do run rifle and shotgun drills a few times a year.

Valley Defense here in Modesto is good. Linden Gun Range hosts different training throughout the year as well.

I've been to two Threat Scenarios classes. I learned a lot from them, personally, and think they were well worth the time (and stress).

If you don't mind traveling to the Sacramento area, Gray Ops and LMS Defense teach classes at the Sacramento Valley Shooting Center. LMS also teaches in San Jose from time to time, although they don't have much of this year's schedule up yet. I learned a lot from both organizations.

Check out Richmond rod and gun's calendar www.richmondhotshots.com. They usually keep their calendar up to date and get some great instructors to come in.

I've had a couple of buddies take classes with this group out of Castro valley.

Is that the guy that teaches “Advanced CQB tactics” but was never in the .mil or LE?

Sounds legit...

I'm planning on taking the Low Light Carbine CQB course by LMS Defense in March here in northern Nevada. They have a 10,000 sq. ft. live-fire shoot house about 30 minutes from me. Longer for you obviously but might be worth the drive. Its actually not very expensive either. http://www.lmsdefense.com/index.html

Thanks everyone for the replies - I did do some searches before I posted but didn't see many of these - none I think.

I'll definitely check some of these out.

Any more :-)

I did some training with Alpha Dog Tactical this past weekend, and it was very high quality. It was an introductory course as I'm just getting into shooting, but good instructor, nice setup, and I learned a lot. I ended up writing a full course review on my blog.

Any details on what happened there? I was curious about the outdated calendar...

Dude that is awesome, I've heard nothing but good things about Kagwerks. Right in my backyard too. It's the weekend before the LMS Defense low-light CQB course....I think March is going to be a very fun month!

Not sure what classes you are looking for. I am teaching a Utah CCW class (can be used to apply for other non-resident CCW's as well) in Pleasanton in March. I also have one in Vacaville in March.

I also do intro classes, NRA Basic Pistol, and a One Handed Shooting class in the Modesto area on a regular basis.

Thanks to all who replied. I'm looking into some of the courses recommended.
