Default adding an RMR to one of my glocks... 17 or 19?

so I am looking to add an RMR to one of my glocks. I've settled on the vortex viper because it gets good reviews and is way cheaper than some other options. the only problem with the viper is that the elevation and windage locking screws are at the rear of the unit, so it cannot be adjusted once the rear suppressor sight has been mounted into the stock location.

i've read conflicting information regarding placement of the rear iron sight, and to avoid making my post long winded I will not go into that here. although the reason I am torn on which gun to mount the rmr on is the obvious negative: a rear sight mounted in front of the RMR decreases the sight radius. my preference would be to mount the RMR on a 19, but I don't know if the sight radius will be way too short... for what it's worth, I do not plan to use this as a self defense pistol. it will be for range plinking and the occasional weekend handgun course. if the RMR stops working, I can just grab another gun and keep shooting.

so what do you think? Viper RMR on the 19 or 17???

My vote is for the G19

Why not ditch the rear sight altogether? I've seen RMR's that had a vertical "cowitness line" milled into the housing.

Put it on the 19. With an RMR, sight radius for what will be your BUIS becomes a moot point. In the event of catastrophic failure, your sight radius (with the rear in front) will still be around that of a 26 and people shoot just fine with those all day long. I do recommend the rear behind the optic and using completely black irons. Practice shooting the optic with the dot off using the RMR body and rear sight as a crude sighting system. The biggest downfall of open optics like the RMR is moisture. Itll starburst the dot on the glass. Might as well have a crude sight picture with the rear and the housing rather than trying to see through both to use the irons. Lots of ways to skin a cat though

IMO add the red dot (the "RMR" is a Trijicon product) to the pistol that is more expendable to you. That way if you are not a fan of the milling, red dot, suppressor sights, etc it's not heartbreaking to sell it or replace it and buy a new pistol or slide.

spend the extra hundo and get the deltapoint pro.

i would also get the slide milled for the optic you will use. that way you can get a clean install rather than use the crappy adapter plates.
