NorCal C&R shoot @ Oroville August 3rd!
Hey everybody! The last shoot was the best one yet, I can't wait for this one!
Where: The Oroville public shooting range. It is free and unmanaged (location here: https://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-...d=0CJIBEPwSMAM ) When:[/B] Saturday, August 3rd from 6:00-7:00AM to whenever we all leave. (Try to get there really early, the range fills up pretty fast, and then it's cool!) What:[/B] Primarily C&R's, but bring whatever you want! We all love seeing guns at the range, especially the weird and unusual. Who:[/B] Anybody who wants to come! Bring your friends and yourself! Since this is a FREE, and UN-MANAGED shooting range, we have to bring some things that we might take for granted most places. 1. SHADE, anything that can provide shade will be appreciated. It will be August, so expect some heat and sunburns. 2. TABLES, for shooting from and to put the guns on. They have some concrete tables, but they get filled up pretty quick on a good day. 3. COOLERS/ICE CHESTS, to keep your food and drinks cold through the heat. 4. WATER, the Oroville range doesn't have any. Don't forget to buy a couple of flats of water or fill a water cooler and bring cups! 5. CHAIRS, try to have them if possible. It makes shooting INFINITELY more comfortable. 6. TARGETS, they do not provide targets there besides what people left behind, so I suggest that you bring your own paper targets and cardboard stands, or other "reactive" targets, AKA, watermelons, old milk jugs filled with water, you get it. And sometimes like magic tannerite appears. The tannerite gods like this shoot apparently... 7. FOOD, we're gonna be a little different this time: POTLUCK!!!! Bring what ya want and BRING YOUR OWN UTENSILS AND PLATES!!! 8. THE SUN, it is hotter than the pit of hell there, make sure to bring sunscreen, hats, maybe a water mister if you want. I can't wait to see you all there! If you wanna come just comment below or PM me and I'll add you to the list! And if you want add what you'll be bringing below, we love to talk about it before we see it 1. Surplus-Addict +2 2. Dutch3 3. SVTPete83 4. Lone_Gunman +2 5. Hylander +1 6. justin4fun 7. johnyreb 8. Jester3 +2 9. golddredger 10. mosinnagantmanm91/30 11. TRAP55 12. meaty-btz 13. Omnitravis 14. Divernhunter 15. ChicoDan 16. Ducati996 17. spetznaz 18. H3nchmen 19. Canucky 20. av8erprince 21. Calendared the date, I'll be sure to inform those who do not lurk the forums. Work will likely keep from playing, but I'll spread the word.

count me in. I think the meet is a great Idea. lunch would be cool also. who has a few large tables and a good size BBQ they can share? Getting the space for food to be set out will be needed. I know some drive further than I and with a lunch set up it will be more of an all day function. I will get some nametags and markers to donate but I will be to busy shooting to man the welcome booth. We should also post a link in some other threads and see if even more want to come. I agree with Ian enough people and we can take over the joint for the day.

A booth with a table, a sign in sheet maybe to make sure that everybody comes and to let people know where others are located on the range (it's a big place), and a name tag sheet with markers.

With any luck my dad and I will make this one. I can't know for sure though until we get closer to the actual date, so for now I'm a "maybe".

Edin and I are in, as of right now. We'll see how things turn out.
I'll try and bring 3-4 quarts of some salads.

It is a ways off but I will try to go. The last couple have been fun.
Be very careful about anything(salads etc) with mayo. In that heat it will become food posoining(sp) very fast. My truck gets real full fast but I will see what I can bring as far as food. No room for a big BBQ. For those that did not see the Africa trip pictures I will bring the 8X10's again

I know, lots of ice and then more ice the next day to keep it fresh. I don't want to poison any of you guys, lol.
Does anyone have a "Jungle Carbine" they can bring? Enfield 5 Mk 1?

Oh...Speaking of battle wounds (ask Surplus-addict), I was sitting next to Dutch3 shooting a .22. One casing found its way down down my shirt and landed on my chest. I jumped up doing some kind of dance, stomping at the ground and cussing. Should have had that on Youtube, I'd be famous!
He apologized, I said: not your fault...while I was grabbing my chest. Those spent casings are HOT! Last edited by Wicked Pete; 06-05-2013 at 7:51 AM.. |

You guys keep hurting yourselves we'll need to get a paramedic on hand.
Actually I was glad I was wearing long pants. I had a ricochet come back and hit my leg. No damage but it stung a bit.

What do you mean? Was it a bullet? I did hear a lot of the rounds ricocheting around now that I think about it.

Still thinking about the #5 but $450 for the #4. I had it and a Win M1 Garand at the last shoot.

I've had one hit me in the chest before. It was a big sucker, a 45/70 I believe. Knocked the wind out of me, but it didn't actually pierce my skin or shirt; they come flying back pretty slow. It just gave me a big bruise for a few days. I learned an important thing then that day: you wear your eye protection TWENTY. FOUR. SEVEN. when at the line.

We were down on the far right side. When you guys were rapid firing the .22's, they were bouncing off the closest berm, coming sideways across in front of us about 25yrds out, and hitting the side berm. Sounded like a shootout on one of the old spaghetti western movies.

Sorry about that, Pete. I need to rig up some kind of brass catcher. I'm too cheap to buy one. I want to save my .223 brass anyway.
