Default Which is Better for Milsim?

I'm starting a thread on whether gas blow back weapons, or electric weapons are better for Milsim events. I am personally of the opinion that gas blow backs are since a milsim is looking to be realistic. What are your thoughts and/or favorite guns to take to a milsim?

GBB are a lot more fun but less accurate due to the inconsistent gas release. Your weapon choice is also far more limited.

GBB is best, you get more of a recoil impulse from the cycling of the weapon and a more realistic round capacity.

The reason I shoot AEG is to get 30+ RPS. which is probably not very realistic

GBB are fun and great for Millsim, more realistic and although its not the same as a real firearm its closer for training, mag count and some recoil, AEG's are great if your just trying to go out and sling BB's at your friends and have some fun playing.

Okay, so the general consensus is that gas guns are better for milsims. I definitely think so, I like how realistic they are (or as close to realistic as an airsoft gun can get) and how you have to watch your ammo.

One of my favorite GBB for milsims is the H&K MP7 its small and light great for clearing rooms but at the same time has great range right out of the box. So although its kind of a CQB gun its also great for out door.

How much range does it have? I've always loved the look of the MP series, particularly the mp5 and mp7.

Its sitting at 400FPS it shoots across the feild with no problem, im guessing it's shooting 300-350 feet out of the box

Default GBB

for Milsim, like you stated with electric guns the round capacity is unrealistic. GBB has actual magazine capacity ( 30 for AR / SCAR type weapons, 15 for pistols. ) Least that was my experience back in the day. GBB are tougher to keep consistent, they hit hard to start when the magazine is full but tend to shoot softer to the end of the magazine.

A GBB is definitely usable in milsim. I used to have a WE SCAR 17 GBB which I took to one of those Milsim West overnight events and it wasn't a struggle at all to use against those using AEG's. I just carried one can of Nuprol green gas and one can of Nuprol black gas for night time due to colder weather.

If you want a realistic AEG, I'd recommend the KWA RM4 as it has recoil and electronic cutoff for empty mags. Or if you're willing to spend a little more money, a Tokyo Marui Recoil Shock.

2-hour Milsim or 40-hour Milsim?

Green gas mags are temperature sensitive, and have limited capacity.

If you want some fun, HPA tap your GG mags. It's a bit of a pain to swap mags, but the performance is way better than GG.

That said, a quality AEG will likely cause you less heartburn in a long Milsim game. Less crap to schlep around.

I took a look at the HK mp7, and love the look of it! I think I'll pick one up, just hoping that they perform as well as you said. I'm looking to get into a MSW, so I'm glad that some of you have experience with using them.
