Default Outdoor range in Alpine for sale...

The wife and I are moving into a rental in east county soon and have been looking at properties with some land for the future. I saw this one tonight and threw the address into google. It looks like a full on 3-bay shooting range. Looks like it will be for auction soon. Anyone know about this place?

19150 High Glen Road, Alpine CA

Jim

Arrow More than 500 yards. Map link included

Check out the google map of the ranges. 500 plus yards! This place is crazy. Looks like a foreclosure.

It's Covert Canyon and it's not going to go to auction.

Bad info. The foreclosure hasn't taken place, only a NOD has been filed.

OK I had to look up NOD...Notice of Default....aka...can't pay my bills. So, it WILL be foreclosed soon. There is still time for the go-fund-me campaign!

Friend of mine lives right across Japatul from there. My oldest has looked at some properties off High Glen -- some high $$ and some kind of sketchy.

Ah. Interesting. The article says this land is owned by the guy that owned the now closed American Shooting Center. Closed gun shop....foreclosed land....crazy neighbors...what can go wrong?

Yup, think those two articles pretty much covered it...

Doesn't surprise me. Doing my research on the property/owner all I found was the eviction from American Shooting Center, 2 current foreclosures, and a string of lawsuits against the owner and his business....I think I will look elsewhere for my dream range property

^^^So ASC was evicted-they didn't just lose their lease as was the news on the street.

All the Covert Canyon issues and expenses must have bled his cash flow dry....

Eviction Notice was served June 6, 2017, so they knew for a while they were going to bug out most likely. I seriously doubt they will be opening again based on all that I found on public record. Seems the guy was a legal & financial mess...

Sketchy was right! The print article paints a much worse picture than the video news spot...

Suburban overcrowding and fires will make opening up a range nearly impossibe here.

San Diego County is too overcrowded now for that stuff. There's a house on every hilltop where there were none 20 years ago.

Default Kearchoffer Flat

Where did you find the auction notice?

Looks like this property is one or both of the following land parcels:
5211300500
5211300800
use these APN numbers to search here.
The area is a high mountain valley named the "Kearchoffer Flat" in these records.

Found the initial foreclosure notice on a realty site https://www.realtytrac.com/propertyd...en-rd/90443286 I was tracking when I was looking at this property a few months back. When I saw it pop up again, I did some google work and found the details about the auction on a default property site.

That link you gave nailed the range. I am still tempted despite all the controversy. Am I reading the link correct....1.6 million property worth going for 307k??

The road up to the property is not for the faint of heart...

Drove my 98 Saturn out to that range a few times. It was probably better maintained back then.

Well it finally happened. Foreclosed and sold at auction. I called the Iranian dudes who own it now and they said that the old owner won't leave! I tried asking about purchasing it but I guess the old owner won't get off the property even after getting evicted so they are anticipating a legal battle before reselling the property.

Any update on this? Now with the BLM shooting ban looks like Iím stuck driving two hours to the desert. Any other legal shooting areas left in east county?
