Also the firewall is not secure and letís signed apps dictate their own access rules.

Still running Mojave and the next upgrade is to real *BSD. No more Apple games. They brought this on themselves with early obsolescence.

You mean your Smart TV does not do the same. Just about all electronic devices do this, should be illegal but 1984 - the government loves.

the telemetry can not be blocked, as macOS Big Sur does not allow user-level firewalls or VPNs to access system communication.
Yes it can, and things like this are exactly why I have a Cisco ASA as my home firewall. Complete control over what goes in and out of my network on a per packet basis. Shame on Apple for going down this road, but it was inevitable. Too much money to be made by violating personal privacy.

OCSP fundamentally is a legitimate use case.

But if this concerns you, you should run Linux consumer oriented OSes will implement app certificate checking as a way to combat malware.

As far as Mac OS 11 aka Big Sur allowing OCSP data to get past a firewall, this is true at the host-level (e.g. PF). But, obviously you can block it with network hardware.

Never upgrade for at least a month or so after a new release. Lesson learned along time ago.
