It's mounted to the wall and the rifle is inserted into it.

Nice--are any of your bayos actually sharp? I have a few (98K, Mosin) and none of them have an edge. They wouldn't do much damage if you tried to slash with them, though I gather with a bayo you are normally going to thrust rather than slash. Still, since a bayo usually doubles as a field knife I would want it sharp...

My understanding is that bayonets were issued dull and intended to be sharpened by the soldier.

Mounted on my 1955 K31. Does anyone know on these rifles if the serial number of the bayonet matched the rifle when issued? The bayonet # is quite a bit earlier. The edges are basically blunt and at a near-obtuse angle, but the tip is sharp!
