18NOV94 India Co Plt 3047 MCRD San Diego.
I had a lady who I've known professionally for about 8 years ask me "You were a Marine?,I knew it had to be something like that."So after I tell Her that I AM a Marine (once a marine always a marine) She asks "Did you ever kill anybody?" to which I replied "Yeah! I killed my first wife." She was shocked and I laughed with Her and I explained that, that's not a great question to ask people. Now she'll never know the answer but she will always be wondering.

Navy Recruit Training Center Great Lakes in September 1982.
Hot sticky summer in boot camp followed by a cold windy winter shoveling snow. One of the best arcades I have seen on a base, or anywhere, while it lasted. Free live shows by the Stray Cats in the enlisted club. Jam packed. Trips to Milwaukee to the Safe House. And despite the warnings and reviews, several damn good times in Kenosha at local joints. Bratburgers!

Hmm, your Boot Camp dates are almost the same as mine . . . except the year was 1991.

I remember walking to South Coast Plaza when I first got there Then I picked up a nice mountain bike and got around on that thing. Though you're right, not much to do on base, did you ever go to the public swimming pool there? It was a little backyard sized pool near the credit union. I never saw anyone else there the couple times I went.
