Default Army lifts ban on waivers for recruits with history of some mental health issues

That's just great..............

"WASHINGTON – People with a history of “self-mutilation,” bipolar disorder, depression and drug and alcohol abuse can now seek waivers to join the Army under an unannounced policy enacted in August, according to documents obtained by USA TODAY."

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...ues/853131001/

Is anyone going to tell receiving commanders their soldiers were allowed with these waivers, or even the Drill SGT's?

I believe this has been reversed. I'd like to know what idiot made the initial decision and announcement? Supposedly they were not authorized. Somebody's career should be over.

So we just got rid of a bunch of Combat Vets and all the "troublemakers" to make way for the mentally unstable?

Not for nothing, but the preliminary reading i've done about the recent waivers has to do with a call for more service members from our current President. A drastic shift from when I heard Gen. Dempsey speak in NYC about meeting troop reduction goals back in '14.

I'm not agreeing that mental health waivers should be waived, only that troop size goals (so far) differ greatly between the two most recent Commanders in Chief.

I'd be interested to hear from any recruiters currently on the board here - what are you seeing coming through your doors???
