Default 10 Round P14 Magblocks Allow 11 Rounds

I just received Magblocks to convert my Para Ordnance P14 magazines I obtained back in 1994 from 14 rounds to 10 rounds. I inserted the Magblock and reassembled the magazine and I find I can insert 11 rounds without difficulty. Has anyone else had this problem? Am I doing something wrong?

Looks like you got the block in upside down, and it should be under the follower

U will have to semi permanently glue the block to the base plate.

But why are you changing your legally grandfathered standard capacity magazines to 10 rounders? What am I missing?

I believe our great, progressive state of California doesn't allow grandfathered mags anymore.
I think this was past a yr or 2 ago.
It's hard, but as a gun owner u gotta keep up. Even though they try to make it hard has possible

Actually the 9th circuit just told the state to suck lemons IIRC.

The injunction against the law going into effect was upheld. Much to the dismay of the Democratic overlords in Sacramento.

I'm sure the leftists looking for an En Bloc review by the whole 9th circuit to toss that ruling out like the 10 day wait.

Till then, load em to capacity and have at it folks.

Dan

That's not how they show it on their site.

With a metal magazine, round limiting rivets might be easier if the mag block doesn't work.

Also some FFLs will block em for the buyer. Helped a friend dispose of some older pistols with standard capacity magazines and Rifle Supply of Huntington Beach facilitated the transfer and blocked the mags for the buyer.

It may not make a difference, but try flipping the block around so that the “P14” label is on the other side.

eBay sells reliable Mecgar double stack mags for Para's for about $23 shipped.

I just don't have time to deal with coming up with a way to legally modify these magazines for sale. The buyer now wants me to bring the magazines to the dealer when we transfer the P14. He says he will modify the magazines when we meet. I just don't feel comfortable doing this and will only sell the P14 without the magazines.

Glue a shim to the bottom of the block. Make the shim from kydex, wood, leather, plastic, anything. Just shim it and trim it until ten rounds goes in with a little slack, but 11 can’t go in. It doesn’t have to be pretty, it just has to hold up and do the job.

Without the original mags, fewer people will be interested and those who are will want to pay less. Grab some scrap material and glue and build up the bottom of those blocks another 1/4” - 3/8” or so. Then trim the smaller nub on top of the block to adjust the capacity if needed.

Why not hand it over to the FFL for them to block on the buyers dime? It's the same as just selling the mags, but they can choose to get them blocked or the FFL can hang on to them if they choose not to have em blocked. Monkey off your back.

No, the mod has to be “permanent”, not “semi permanent” and it doesn’t necessarily have to involve gluing the block to the baseplate.

Epoxying the spring to the block and the block to the locking plate (if the magazine design has one) is as permanent as any mod and still allows you to take the magazine apart if you need to for some reason.

To the OP, I’m not familiar with that magazine, is there a different plate that you’re using the block to replace or does the spring normally rest directly on the sliding baseplate?
