Grabbed some ammo at one of the local shows. Decided to test it while we were sighting in.

Load X .223 75gr HPBT out of my AR15. 50 yards. 10 shots.

I'm ready to go on my trip!

I'll play. While this wasn't my best target ever, it is the very first 5 shot group shot off the concrete benches at Coalinga. I shot it the morning after we set them on the 1000 yard berm.

Default 675 Yards at SLOSA

It's been a while since I've stretch the AR's legs. 4/6 at 675y (or 700y depending on who you ask) at SLOSA. And I finally got a tripod. It helped, but the concussion still knocks the internals around.

7.65 x 53 Argentine, 174gr .311 SMK handload at 200 yards

The cold bore shot went 12 o'clock, next 4 grouped 8 and 9 o'clock. The four shot group was about 1.5" or .75 MOA. Including the first round, group was about 1 MOA.

103 year old 1909 7.65 x 53 caliber Argentine Mauser, all original, except for a Bushnell 10x40 Elite 3200 scope.

The Argentine is the one on the bottom. The one on top is a 83 year old Persian Mauser which shoots almost as well as the Argentine

One thing I notice is that it's hard to tell where the bullets went through on the shoot-n-see targets. Try shooting on butcher paper or white paper sometime and you can really see the burn marks. Also, "On Target" has some great software that you can use to keep track of your shooting and how large your groups were. Give them a try.

Arrow today at USI

100 yds, iron sights, 3 shot group from the bench

Wait, that 3d one...it breaks the line....that counts, right?

If not,...2 of 3 in the 10 ring ain't bad for these ol' bifocal'd eyes

Default Tavor and MK12 at 100 yards

Went to Burro today with the Tavor and MK12. Just had Wolf Gold and XM193. Distance was 100 yards.
  • Eotech held zero despite being removed to install Geiselle bow (zero'd at 50..was a ragged hole)
  • POI was 2" high and to the right with Wolf Gold and about 5" high and to the right with XM193 (POA was center target)
  • Tavor did better with the Wolf Gold
  • Suprised at accuracy of Tavor at 100 with the Eotech..wonder how it will do scoped!
  • MK12: Top left target was with Wolf Gold, as was bottom left. Top/bottom right was with XM193
  • The MK12 seemed to favor the XM193

Default DPMS Oracle Rattlecan

Bringing this thread back from the dead.

I know DPMS gets crapped on as a budget AR but I've had no fundamental issues in accuracy and reliability. This was my first AR that I got maybe 6-7 years ago. It hadn't been shot in years since I've made newer, more glamorous AR purchases/builds.

But since then I've recently made some changes/upgrades as project.
  • AR Gold Trigger
  • VG6 Epsilon muzzle brake
  • AimPoint T-2 Red Dot Sight
  • Radian Raptor LT charging handle
  • Midwest Industries 13" handguard
  • MFT Minimalist Stock
  • Hexmag Tactical Grip
  • Magpul Pro BUIS
  • Cloud Defensive LCS w/ Streamlight ProTac light
  • Rattlecan desert theme paint job

Took it out the ASR to sight in the AimPoint T-2. I was really impressed with the accuracy of this rifle and I found it to be a lot of fun to shoot. It may actually be my favorite over my BCM and PSA AR's.

The DPMS Oracle (right) next to my 18" PSA stainless barreled AR.

50yd Sight-in of the Aimpoint T-2 RDS. No magnification obviously.

@100 yds. With no magnification, group expanded, no surprise but a grouping nonetheless.

Two questions, first why are the bullets seated so far back into the case?

Second, why is your cantilever mount facing that way, isn't that backward?

^^^^ First, the bullets are 73gr ELDM. That's where they are set to not only fit in the mag, but also chamber.

Second, that's the way I like it on that rifle with that glass.

If you discount the flier, it's 4rnds @ .310"
