Keep in mind that if you have an 03/C&R FFL, Caspian will give you dealer pricing (you need to contact them and they accept it by email), which is around 20% off. So you don't have to wait for the GB (or be afraid to miss it).

It's not a big picture on there site, but once you open the image in a new tab/window it goes to full size. The pictures for the "Low End" kit and the "High End" parts kit are the same (the slide seems to be a "GI style")but it does show the frame without grip:

It's too bad we have to do all this sleuthing ourselves. FYI it works for all the other photos on that section of their site as well.

Sleuthing is the joy of a paperweight build.

Sorry guys and gals. Bowing out if this buy. I prefer the classic 1911 grip style myself.

At work trying to update. I have NOT checked PayPal, I will do that tonight that should be a lot of people to clear out. If you PM'ed me or Glbtrottr I am through with all the PM's as of now. If you committed but have not sorted out payments, I will be sending out reminders shortly. The buy officially closes on Friday.

The GB for slides and parts kits will start AFTER this is officially closed and all the payments are in. Some people need to replenish funds, some of us need to catch our breath and the final hard number here will be used to finalize prices (hopefully) on the parts kits and the slides. And after that I will be getting numbers on people wanting build parties. So we can sort #1 if everyone can fit into a single party at Ares that is local (which I am beginning to doubt) and #2 help non SoCal'ers find their way into a group build if they want it.

Curious why the grip is covered in the exploded view with all the WC parts all over the table.

Has anyone seen a final revision of the grip?

In the end did the tally paid make the 100 mark, or at least enough that Ares will go for the group pricing?

Default barrel length

I was just wondering if and when we finally get done with the machining and start assembling the pistol in a single shot configuration does the barrel length also have to start out at 6"? And only then can we undo the single shot configuration and shorten the barrel/slide?

AFAIK there is no reason to put this in a single shot configuration. These frames, once you machine them can no longer be transferred/sold even through an FFL.

That is incorrect.
The handgun you build will not be on the "safe handgun roster". Therefore, in order to build a handgun in CA without running afoul of PC 12125 you must build it as a dimensionally compliant single shot pistol first.
After that, it is legal to modify it as needed.

Hmm...good to know. Surprised this only came up now. Wonder if Ares is going to have the long barrel/sled at their "build parties"?

And they can be transferred/sold through an FFL via PPT. At which point you'll need to properly serialize them though.

Banana posting here because I am too lazy to switch over to my own account. Wow I feel bigger and stronger and oddly surly as Glbtrottr

I will update above shortly.

I have 2 people who Pay Palled but didn't give a SN, so help me out to find you.

We are pushing back the close date 2 weeks because the number of people sending things last minute is like 25-80% of the whole buy.

As of this moment we have
Paid for: F:124 J:28
Confirmed but unpaid: F:48 J:15
Committed: F:63 J:15

I am personally annoyed about the last group.

Good numbers, have to expect people to "confirm" but bail for various reasons, it is all good considering the numbers of those who came through. All things considered you guys have pulled off an excellent group buy... Now it just comes down to Ares coming through with the frames in a reasonable time frame, let's push on for the parts buy!
