Default New use for crystal Tidy Cat

Winter is coming and the moisture is in the air. If you want to protect your ammo and don't want to spend a fortune on those little silica bags then you can use this trick. Buy "crystal" Tidy Cat, cat litter and add a small scoop to a coffee filter. Fold over and staple top. Voila! Silica packets to put in your ammo cans, range bag or gun safe. Cheap easy way to keep the moisture out.

Lightbulb Caging the kittie litter....

Michael's Craft store has little mesh drawstring bags, about 2x3" in the wedding supplies area. I think they're for party favors, but it looks good for using the Tidy Cat Crystal too. And they won't rip. I think you could replace the ribbon with a twist-tie if you're really paranoid of escapee kitty litter...

or

They come in other colors too. I've even seen pink or black, our faves! They're really inexpensive, around a buck or two each (I'll update pricing).

Cool idea. Any thoughts on using the silica gel beads commonly seen in desktop bamboo plants?

I save those crystal packets from all the computers we get at work, the servers come with a couple of 2x4 inch bags of them. I have a coffee can literally full of those things. Also great in case someone drops their phone in water to dry it out.

Been doing that for awhile now for certain things. I take an envelope and punch holes all through it, load it with tidy cat silica, seal and throw in places I want it.

Nice option and definitely the time of year here. If you have a bigger collection and dont want the nasty smell you can also try Dri-Rite from home depot. Big azz bag, cheap, and fill old tube socks with the stuff.
