Default The Official **COLT CARBINES** Thread!

Post up those Colt Carbines! (Rifles can play too, as long as it's a Colt!)

Here's a couple of mine, just picked her up last week:

LMT SOPMOD Gen I
Matech BUIS
Knights Carbine RAS
KAC rail covers/KAC forward grip

Most likely going to be changing out the barrel to a true 14.5" barrel.

SP6940CA

Eotech XPS2 /w Primary Arms 6x Magnifier; as you can see no clearance issues with stock BUIS. Stock sights co-witnesses perfectly with Eotech. Eotech rear control buttons are accessible when magnifier flipped up.

400 rounds of XM193 in first range session with no issues.

My all Colt rifle with new roll mark. The upper has a new Colt 14.5 SOCOM barrel pinned with a BCM extended A2 flash hider. It's nice to have a another pony in the stable

Put my deposit down for Colt 6940 at Turners 2 months ago. Still waiting for my baby to come in. They still have no.idea when I can expect it.

In the meantime, I have had my eyes on the LMT 308 MWS, which I want with a 20" barrel.

Anyone have any input?

I bought the first one I've come in contact with here in Eureka, CA. A little under $1300 out the door for the only one I've ever seen in my area at any local shops. A Colt SP6920CA. Immediately put on a Knights Armament RAS and Colt M4 buttstock on it.

That colt is looking good. Simple and clean with just a dash of KAC RIS, Vertical Grip, an ACOG and you're good to go.

Going to replicate my issue M4 to use for training. Its getting an Aimpoint CompM4. I was only issued two heat shield panels with my issue rifle, and I kept them on just so I didn't have to clean underneath them as much, but it would save a couple ounces off the front if I took them off, so my "clone" only has the two rail panels on the side. Only other difference besides the 1.5" of extra barrel and the lack of a burst system is an AN/PEQ-15 which is nearly impossible to find legally and about $2500 when they do pop up.

Some nice Colt Carbines.

Emanresu something is off on your Knight's rail panel I have a strong suspicion it's an airsoft copy.

Calg - Good eye. How did you know that it's a copy? I have an original KAC panel also. Difference between the two is that the copy has the KAC's phone number inscribed on it while the original doesn't. Build quality are both excellent.

Mr P. - Troy RIS/RAS is real.

I'm picking up my 6940 today.....after quite a long wait. Anyone have recommendation for multi purpose optics. I'm leaning toward ACOG, but still have to do some more research into specifically which model.

Also, recommendations on where to purchase?

I don't own a Colt M4, but I am a Colt enthusiast (own a WWI repro and a SAA).

I love these threads, but I think that since it's Colt those of you that do own own should post the obligatory closeup of the rollmark

Default RIPPED OFF? USED being sold as NEW!!???

Help!

I picked up my NEW 6940 last night from a store in the greater Los Angeles area. (I dont want to say the name at this point in time in case my suspicions are invalid).

The store stated that the rifle was brand new, never been fired, used, or borrowed by anyone, etc.

I paid $1599, which is obviously full retail price, plus tax, DROS fees. The total was $1774. Fast forward until after 10 day waiting period - last night...I picked up the box containing the rifle, placed it inside my trunk and drove home.

When I got home, I opened the box (which was not sealed), and removed the rifle from the plastic, (which was already opened). The extra magazine and strap packaging was already opened, too. As a result of the discovering extensive signs of wear and tear, I suspect that the rifle is not NEW.

I took extensive photos, which I posted to this site. The site only allows 5 photos to be posted. I will be more than happy to provide the rest of the photos upon request via email, PM, or any other method.

Some of the things I discovered included:

--The lower receiver has oil all over it.

--The bullet button is extensively worn and scratched.

--There is an obvious small chunk of the rubber missing from the lower left side portion of the piccatiny rail, somewhere around T18-T20.

-There are scratches on numerous areas of the rifle, too many to list - they are detectable on the photos I posted.

--The screw on the left side of the telescoping stock appears rusted.

--The second magazine is completely and thoroughly scratched to the extent that it may not even be worthy of being sold used.

Is it possible to look up the serial number to verify whether there was a previous owner?

I realize that even if there was not a previous owner, the rifle could have been used or borrowed by employees at the store.

Perhaps there was some sort of honest mix-up with inventory?

Is it possible that the signs of wear and tear that I noticed are actually things that are to be expected when purchasing a NEW AR-15 from Colt?

What is the approximate value of a 6940 used?

Any help or advice that anyone could give would be extremely helpful and much appreciated. I am bringing the rifle back to the store tomorrow to hear what they have to say. At this point I have not yet contacted them, as I would like to get some feedback from Calguns members first. I have not fired the weapon, loaded any ammo, or even removed the magazine.

Your pictures I'm viewing are very small and hard to make out details but the only pic that seems out of placeto me is the rail pic where it appears the end of one of the rails has a lot of exposed metal. All the other stuff is common to how I received mine and one of the new M4s I was issued when I was still active duty. The dry film (sp?) magazines I've had all come from factory/package with scratches from the manufacturing process and some of the parts you pictured like the magazine release tend to have that look in the finish. The bullet button is one of this pics that I cant see quite clearly either but also looks like exposed metal. I know from putting bullet buttons in myself that you do have to adjust them a little if you over tighten/under tighten them the first time, in order to get the mag to releasing right. I never really marred the finish in the process of doing that though. Maybe yours got a little extra love during the quality control process and shows with more usage marks before leaving the factory. The excessive lube was on mine when I got it just like a lot of other new weapons I have bought.

I took the actual photos with a very high quality D-SLR with Macro lens, etc. However, upon uploading the pictures, I discovered that in order to comply with the maximum file size allowances on this site - I had to compress them substantially. If you dont mind, I would like to email you the original photos, which reveal a lot more detail. I dont want to accuse the store I bought it from of selling something used as if it were new unless I am very confident in my conclusions. Since I have never purchased an AR before, or even a Colt before - I have no prior experience to aid in my conclusion. Thanks so much for your time.

The only AR's I own are Colts.

The lower one is gone and that leaves me with 3 Colts lol. Can't really think of any other lower I'd want, perhaps a FN marked one.
