Just ordered my first part.

Tax $6.20
Total $86.19
Less Free G/C $50.00
Less A/J 10% $7.99
Cash Back $2.10
OOP $26.10

More parts to come

On my older 10/22 I used this Kidd mag plunger and higher tension spring as well. Holds my BX 25 mags firmly in place for 100% improvement in feeding as they were slightly wobbly beforehand.

Also a mag release extension and Volquartsen exact edge extractor. Much happier with it now.

I'm hoping not to spend quite that much but I do plan on having fun with it.

I'm calling this a "budget" build. So, no Kidd parts in this build.

I remember when I bought my 10/22td, and wanted to just buy a chassis for it. Remembered reading something, somewhere about how great a Kidd trigger was, so I went shopping on their site...

...next thing I know, I'm looking at a bill for parts that cost what I had spent on the rifle itself, still in waiting in 10-day jail

Bought a green mountain semi-taper ss barrel. From a prone/slung position and a 6x scope at 25 yards I canít tell any difference between
CCI Std
Fiocchi std
Gemtech suppressor
SK std +
And a few others I canít remember.

Everything shot within an inch 5 shot groups. To say I am pleased is an understatement!

You should be in good hands. But getting the factory bbl off the receiver was a BYATCH!

Yeah, barrel replacement is the part of the project I'm not looking forward to.

It varies. My factory barrel came off fairly easy. Did recover some of my costs by selling off all the stock parts here.

i'll join in cuz i'm going down this road as well. altho for me the impetus was out of necessity.
i was really hoping to keep this thing as a cheapo plinker but i can't seem to get thru a session without a bout of stovepipes. all original ruger mags and i've tried about 5 types of ammo with the same results.
i'm going to change out the extractor to a volquartsen and do the auto bolt release at the same time. also ordered a couple butler creek mags since 2 out of 3 of the ruger mags have spring tension problems.
already have the bx trigger but haven't installed it yet.

i can see how this gets out of hand

Yeah, with the new stock and barrel alone I'll have more money into this upgrade than it cost me to buy the rifle in the first place.

ekkthree:
Yes, replace the extractor or modify the original one to get rid of the stovepipe problem.

There are instructions at rimfirecentral.com and on you tube for setting the Ruger mag spring tension, it's easy to do.
(Note: I have heard that Ruger employs people with disabilities to assemble mags.
This is not meant as a joke, it is good that Ruger gives these people jobs.
Please be understanding if you get a mag that is not tensioned just right, Ruger will replace them if you want).
