Default Royal Tiger Imports aka IO Inc

http://www.royaltigerimports.com/

Looks like they are starting to sell CA compliant AKs firearms...just by removing pistol grip..

You should only be sad if you purchased an out of spec AK from them.

What do you mean?
The "Casar" is the same rifle that is sold by Turners, but with wood furniture. The California receivers are supposedly not stamped "AK47-C"

Yes... their stripped receivers are a no-go for California.

One of the AK focused forums had a Royal Tiger receiver in side-by-side comparison to an NDS. The holes on the Royal Tiger were off in some areas. If I can find the link I will post it up for y'all.

How much do they go for at Turners?

I think they're around $750, go on sale for $650 or so.

Really not a bad deal unless someone hosts build parties near to you.
The tooling to do a flat build on a parts kit will cost you $400 or more, add in a $200 parts kit and another $100-$150 for the receiver and compliance parts and you're there.

OTOH, you can buy a WASR-10 from Henderson for under $500 shipped if you have an FFL that charges reasonable fees. Even the Lancaster "red" rifles are under $800, or you can buy a Saiga x39 for around $400 shipped and spend $100 to convert it.

Honestly, at the current prices of parts kits compared to complete AKs, the only reason to do a flat build anymore is if you want a pistol.

Keep in mind that most parts kits are now coming with virgin barrels. That's good and bad... it's good because they are US made, which is another compliance part. It's bad because you now have to drill for the gas port, press on and pin the gas block and FSB, and drill for the barrel pin at the trunnion. That's about $100 worth of work to have someone else do it.... your $200 parts kit is already $300 before you even buy the receiver parts.

Ouch... I see what you mean. That thing is a POS. They didn't even line it up properly in the jig when they bent it.

They go for $649.98 regular price...

They were on sale last year Christmas for $599.00

I'll probably wait until it goes back on sale and pick one up unless there is something better that anyone can suggest.

Their parts kits are not a problem in my experience. I bought several HK91 kits from them a few years ago when they were under $200. The problem with them is the receivers, and maybe their complete guns on their own receivers.

There apparently was a run of parts kits with canted sights, but that obviously wouldn't be a problem for the current kits with the virgin barrels.

I couldnt get Royal Tiger to ship me anything at all with a Ca billing address. Not even misc. parts. I have another address in NC, and they wouldnt ship things to my address there because I have my credit card billing address in Ca. So I stopped attempting business with them.

Anyone else have issues with them and CA addresses?

i wasnt trying to order anything not legal here, either. They just didnt want to deal with a CA address at all.

Never tried using a California address. I essentially don't use my California address for any gun related orders that don't originate from California friendly dealers.

I think they're GTG now...

From the description of their AK parts kit:
Quote:
Romanian AK 47 Parts kit in very good condition complete with wooden furniture, U.S. Made barrel, all receiver subcomponents, like trigger guard, trunnion, and stock tank included. Comes with 1x30rd. magazine. No magazines are shipped to CA,MA,NJ,& NY.No price reduction.
And why would they even make the CASAR if they won't ship it to CA?

Must have been a few years ago, they do a couple of CA-legal AKs which are even being sold in Turners now. I've ordered C&R rifles and AK parts kits from IO in the past, never an issue.

no, it was a couple of months ago. I didnt know why they didnt want my business, but, oh, well, there are plenty of other shops that do.

No ... no issues. they were willing to deal with me to ship in an AK47C if I could find an FFL. I didn't do it though, but they seemed pretty helpful in trying to find me a vendor and even referred me to Turner's.
