Default 9/26 UPDATE: Closest I can get to a Wilson Beretta 92G

UPDATE 9/26/2016 - More delay, but it's probably the best solution. When they replaced the frame with the serial number, it was replaced with a new 92A1 frame, which is not CA legal & used as the frame for the WC Brig Tac and the serial number begins with "WC". To avoid any possible issues with DOJ, WC will be ordering me a brand new 92G-SD, which was my original pistol, I will have to DROS it at my local FFL, send it to WC after I pick it up, and WC will start the customization all over again. WC will be covering all costs incurred including the new pistol, fees, etc. + they will be refunding me the cost of the customization work for my inconvenience. Basically, the customization will be free. Yes, this has been and still is extremely frustrating and it'll be at least another couple months before I actually have my customized Beretta back, but WC's (Alan Hoos & CFO) solution & actions of trying to make things right for me have proven that their customer service is top notch. To be continued...

UPDATE 9/13/2016 2:25PM- Spoke to DOJ this morning and I will have to re-DROS it due to the exchange of serial number, wait the 10 days, and send the letter from Wilson Combat to DOJ stating the exchange of serial numbers. Wilson Combat said they will cover all fees to get the pistol back in my hands. Alan Hoos at Wilson Combat has been providing me with phenomenal customer service by staying on top of my issue and even went to the CFO to get approval to cover all the fees involved in getting the pistol back in my hands. For the checkering, they said it now looks like this link http://gunsmagazine.com/wordpress/wp.../tactical3.jpg

I had to find a local FFL to accept the pistol from Wilson Combat & called Coyote Point Armory, who said they cannot accept it because it's not in original configuration and I was SOL, but South City Pawn said not a problem. Can't wait to get my pistol back!

UPDATE 9/12/2016 - Wilson Combat has ordered a new frame, which means it will be a new serial number. Wilson Combat said "If you live in a state where a serial number is listed, we have written letters in the past stating that the two frames have been exchanged and that you no longer own that serialized item and it has been replaced by a new one." I emailed CA DOJ about this situation to make sure I will be in compliance with the DOJ. I also asked Wilson Combat if this has happened with anyone living in California where the CA DOJ accepted the method. I just want to be sure I will be able to legally own this new serialized pistol. Any firearms lawyers here know if I will be in compliant with a letter? My guess is there is a lot more to this.

UPDATE 9/12/2016 3:50PM- Wilson Combat said they have done this before with residents in NY & MA and is sure it has happened to a California resident. They will write a formal letter to the state explaining the exchange of serial numbers.

Thanks! I had a 92FS Brigadier with Wilson Combat trigger components and shooting that started my Beretta phase craze. It was amazing. Can't wait to shoot this one.

Looks great but I hope they did not charge you for the back strap checkering or is it the pic?

I noticed that. It is not the pic, I did get charged, and looks like they screwed up.

I'm going to call them tomorrow.

Good luck . I would be hot!The more I look at it it shows multiple mistakes and looks very amateur.
Coming from a company like Wilson I am very surprised at that.

Agreed. Very disappointed that they even sent it back to me like that. Also I don't even know how they can fix that because it's part of the frame.

Anyone know if this can be fixed?

All the frame work + sights costed around $570 + $44 shipping. All the other parts such as trigger, decocker, mag guide, etc. I changed those myself before I sent it to Wilson Combat. If you're referring to the hand checkering, that costed $100.

Contacted Wilson Combat and sent them pics of the checkering. I thought it would look like this http://gunsmagazine.com/wordpress/wp.../tactical3.jpg. Very clean checkering but mine looks NOTHING like it and looks like *****.

UPDATE: Received response from Alan, Firearm Service Coordinator, and I will be shipping my pistol back to them. They are covering shipping costs. If they cannot fix the existing backstrap, they will replace the frame and start over. That's great customer service, so will provide another update when I get it back.

New frame will be interesting... wouldn't you have to DROS it?

Why did they use the round bit for cross checkering?

When you get a chance, can you measure the pull weight in DA and SA?

I was thinking the same if they have to do a new frame. Maybe they use same serial number? I don't know how this works, but they did emphasize "IF" they can't fix it.

No clue why the checkering was done the way it was. Plus, can't believe they sent it back to me like that and I had spoken to.the rep before they shipped it back out to me. The rep told me it was really nice.

I don't have the tool to measure pull weight but my guess is 7# DA & 4.5# SA, but smooth and crisp. This is just a wild guess. I'll try it again later when I get home.

I don't see how they will fix it, since the material is already gone... But hey, it is WC. They might have a way.

I will be doing some of the same stuff to my frame myself. CCR will refinish for $89. I might do a thread on my 92 stuff as well...

Just got done recording trigger pull weight reduction, so will be posting a video of that. I am using a 12# spring though. Got it down to 6.5 DA and 3.5 SA

6.5 DA & 3.5 SA was actually what I first typed without having the tool and then changed it to 7.5 DA & 4.5 SA.

So, is your weight the first or the second?

I believe it's more closer to 6.5 DA & 3.5 SA. I was trying to be conservative with my numbers without having a trigger pull guage.

Yep. Sent it out on Saturday. I looked at it before I boxed it up and I really don't see how they can fix it without replacing the frame, because it would really shave off a good amount off the backstrap if they were to flatten it out and re-checker it, but we'll see what happens.

I am literally dying of anticipation on this... I still don't understand why they would choose that round bit to do cross checkering. Kind of unbelievable. Maybe they started outsourcing?

wow, good luck man.

Hopefully you will finally get your gun soon. They (WC) better find out what happened on this "run", and make sure it doesn't continue to happen.

I am getting my frame back from CCR soon. I am sure mine will look a bit worse than it did in videos (I didn't do enough cleanup), so stand by, it might make you feel better about having to wait for pros to finally get yours right.

Thanks MosinVirus!

Yours look very professional and even if it came back a little messed up, there's no way it can look worse than mine. Haha. Can't wait to see your masterpiece!
