Default Officer involved shooting in Martinez

No details other than deputy not injured, one person down.

https://news24-680.com/2018/12/05/mo...r-in-martinez/

Glad they got a picture of the action!

Poor Martinez PD can only afford Taurus pistols. Probably use Escort or Maverick shotguns.

Stay frosty Mtz.
I'd put my PT92AF up against a Beretta any day.
It relatively the same pistol.
25yo made on Beretta equipment in Brazil and have zero issues with it.

I have both Taurus and Beretta, aside from being able to carry the Taurus cocked & locked they have the exact same feel and same reliability (Original owner of the Taurus - flawless for past 31 years).

But more importantly - hope the Martinez LEO are OK!

Looks like maybe it was CoCo Sheriff, not Martinez PD. Anyone confirm? Or maybe I’m misreading and CoCo Sheriff is investigating because it was another agency (Martinez PD)?

Martinez PD has Glocks. At least the officer that responded to my house had a Glock. PH uses Sigs. Not sure about CoCo Sheriff.

This is north of my house, but alarming nonetheless.

Staying frosty out here in the slums of Martinez.

Hrmm...Maybe I'm not looking close enough.

I can't seem to find any info on the media briefing yet. Went to both the FB and Twitter pages and a few news sites and nothing. Oh well. I guess I'll have to catch it later.

Be safe out there!

Sounds like no big loss to me. Chalk up another W for the good guys.

Oh, and who knew there were “several gangs in Contra Costa?” Are they talking about the Orinda Cryps and the Danville Bloods?

Meh I have a Taurus, original owner for over 30 years, slide lugs peened where it contacts rear of barrel, Taurus did not fix, a waste of the $50 overnight shipping charge, Taurus CS communications were zero, it's a "lifetime warranty" I cannot afford to use. Had to replace the slide myself, it was cheaper than playing Taurus CS roulette.

Beretta is better than Taurus. But they do cost more.

Going to the CoCoCo Sheriff's FB page, I noticed that there are quite a few comments requesting that he ease up on his lack of CCW issuance stance.

Lemon law in effect.
The only non issue I ever had was with a grip screw that kept coming loose.
One day it went missing on the range. I attempt to get a new set from Taurus
CS in Miami. They wanted serial# and all this other information and I ended up receiving the wrong screws from them.
I just sourced them elsewhere.

But wouldn't he have failed a background check? Oh, that's right he was a criminal. Apparently they don't pay attention to gun laws.

Update on scumbag and his pistol.
http://claycord.com/2018/12/06/contr...lved-shooting/

The suspect has been officially identified by police as 41-year-old Paul Ridgeway of Discovery Bay.

The incident occurred as two deputies were finishing up a response to a call on Adelaide Drive when one noticed Ridgeway, who had an outstanding warrant and was on foot near Pacheco Boulevard and Adelaide Drive, according to the sheriff’s office.

The deputy went to contact him, but Ridgeway allegedly reached into his waistband while running away, prompting a foot pursuit. The deputy commanded him to show his hands and tried to physically control him, sheriff’s officials said.

During the struggle, Ridgeway allegedly pulled out a firearm from his waistband and fired a shot toward the deputy’s head but missed. The deputy returned fire and shot Ridgeway, who was pronounced dead at the scene,
according to the sheriff’s office.

Ridgeway had a no-bail warrant for evading and resisting arrest in another county, was an alleged gang member with multiple prior law enforcement contacts for assault, theft and other offenses, sheriff’s officials said.
