Default CGSSA Event: SFV Chapter Monthly Shoot 5/29: 7PM-ish @ The Firing Line (Burbank)

Friday Night is Date Night!! Bring a date to shoot!!
Join us at The Firing Line in Burbank (1060 North Lake Street, Burbank) for the NEXT SFV Chapter Monthly Shoot of 2015 which will be held on Friday 5/29/2015 @ 7:00 PM.

Please review the following details pertaining to the meet:

Safety Briefing/Meeting/Discussion at 7:10 PM.
Costco Pizza at 8:30 as contest begins.

Monthly Contest will be a 5 dollar 50-50 and a made up brainchild/plagiarized/handicapped invention of Dannytheman. The monthly winner will receive a beautiful bragging rights pin and half the $. (which they can always donate to CGSSA )

Pistols - The occasional double tap is acceptable (but if it's get's out of line the privilege will be taken away), no holstered pistols, no drawing from a holster, no open carry (all standard indoor range safety rules apply)
Rifles - The only permitted rifles must be of handgun caliber (9mm, .40, .357, 5.7mm, etc... are acceptable). ARs/AKs of the 22lr variant are also welcome.
Shotguns - Are NOW permitted provided that you purchase and use range ammunition.
Cost - $10, stay and shoot as long as you want!
** Firing Line members are free to attend.

REMINDER: - When you're there your actions represent the entire Calguns community. We should always take responsibility for our actions, and treat their facility with the utmost respect.

As usual, we'll be able to utilize their training room to eat dinner, hangout, chit-chat, Do some show and tell, and purchase swag. In addition, they will be reserving an entire side of the range for us, and depending on the turnout we may have to take turns and/or expand into the other range. We'll also be providing fabulous Costco pizza at 8:30 PM or so for anyone that is hungry and wants to eat.

So, who's in? You know there is nothing better that you'd rather do on a Friday night than shoot some guns with fellow CalGunners!

Anyone know how to zero a 10/22? Is that something that's even worth doing at an indoor range or should I find some time to hit Angeles before I try an Appleseed mid-June?

I'm most likely in. Have a few new mods to test out

Zeroing a 10/22 is easier indoors- instant target feedback. You may just have to reset the elevation for longer outdoor ranges.

Had to share!!!

FRIDAY

A doctor was addressing a conference in Tampa and started out- ‘The material we put into our stomachs is enough to have killed most of us sitting here, years ago. Red meat is awful. Soft drinks corrode your stomach lining.. Chinese food is loaded with MSG.

High fat diets can be disastrous, and none of us realizes the long-term harm caused by the germs in our drinking water. However, there is one thing that is the most dangerous of all and we all have eaten, or will eat it. Can anyone here tell me what food it is that causes the most grief and suffering for years after eating it?’

After several seconds of quiet, a 75-year-old man in the front row raised his hand, and softly said, ‘Wedding Cake.’

I haven't been to one of these before, but am interested. Is the NRA marksmanship thing still going on?

Do I need to bring anything aside from my guns and $5? (I'm already a member at the range.)

On the 10/22 - have you installed tech sights for it? You'll be much happier at the appleseed if you do.

I have TechSights, auto bolt release, bolt buffer, and a sling mounted on it. I love my little 10/22. I just don't know how to shoot with it yet.

Bring your guns and the range fee is all you need at a minimum. Bring some fives if you want to jump in on the contest. If you're shooting the NRA Marksmanship program, you may want to bring an extra $25 (I think) for the pretty swag once you've shot up your plates.

I'll see about printing up some four minute squares for 15 yards for sighting in the 10/22. Appleseed will be completely opposite of shooting at an indoor range, and sighting in is part of the course, but the closer you start off at, the happier you'll be.

Just bring your good looking self. The only reason you might want to bring the 5 bucks is IF you want in on the contest, not mandatory!

Ask for Danny when you get there!

Awesome! Thanks!

I'd be happy if I could work the sight adjustment tool without looking like an idiot.

I will try to make it. If I can, I'll bring the 10mm longslide again, since people seemed to like it. Also the 3" 44 magnum and IIRC my Ruger GP100 was requested.

Afteractionreport, how did the Insight shoot end up in the same week as the SFV shoot? It was much easier to get to when it was the second week of the month.

Any of you guys shoot and reload .45 long colt?

I'm looking for a handful of brass- like 12, to try on a project- making my own .450 Adams brass.

I don't think we'll be able to shoot it at FL when done though, black powder and all

Thanks!
