Default 3X BDC work with .22 LR?

I know the reticule on the 3x PA scope is set up for 5.56 however this looks like an awesome scope for my soon to own M&P 15-22.

What effectt will mounting this on a .22lr have on how the reticule works?

I have a flat top 5.56 that is impatiently waiting for the 5x, the 3x just seems like a really nice match for the .22lr AR platform.
