Default Thoughts on the Vortex Ranger 1000?

Im looking to some of you guys for first hand experience on the Vortex Ranger 1000. I'm in the market for a new range finder, particularly this one due to its features, price point, and great warranty. I've read mixed reviews but it seems like it will be perfect for my use. How do you guys like yours? Any thing I should know?

For a range finder in the <$400, it's a good range finder. The double clicking feature is a little annoying but like you said it's hard to beat the warranty. The clip on the side is nice too. Camofire always has Leica CRF-2000 range finders for around $539 and those are really nice. If I could do it over I would have spent a little more in that.

Have you looked through one? I looked at one last week at BP. The guy behind the counter was really pushing it. I'm sure it's good. It wasn't right for me.

I was looking at one of those, but ended up with the Sig kilo 2000 instead. Much better range finder in my opinion.

I failed to mention I can get the vortex ranger for 40% off which is why it's so intriguing. I can't get any deals on the sig kilo or that would be at the top of my list.

I got the same deal. For a little bit more you can get the 1500 and I believe it doesn't have the annoying double click feature. IMHO, the double click is it's only draw back. Like most Vortex optics it's tough and has good glass. It was a big upgrade from the POS redfield that I was using.

Can you confirm what NickZag has mentioned regarding the annoying double click not being on the 1500?

In that case then I would probably buy it too. Check it out thoroughly, then check it out again a few days later, and if you still like it enough then I'd say get it.
