Had one years ago when I shot 3-gun. Great gun.

Manual of arms is a bit more involved, because there are more options in feeding and reloading. But nothing training and reading the manual can’t overcome.

If you’ve got the cash, do it.

Yes. They are awesome. Have M1 and M2. They are essentially the same gun.

28” for duck, quail, dove and chukar.
20” for bad guys

M1S90 owner. Right now it's wearing a LONG game barrel, I used it for clays once or twice.

Super light and very fast cycling.

I have an M2 with the chevron stock and the recoil reduction is noticeable compared to the M1. The action is almost the same and the stocks are different. With the M1 I shot you had the ability to place a shell in the carrier and also load the chamber so it increased the capacity by 1 shell. The M2 does not have this ability. I have a friend with a Benelli Super Eagle First Model and with magazine extensions he could load 8 in the tube 1 in the carrier and 1 in the chamber for a total of 10 rounds. If you try this in the M2 it will jam. Oh and the choke tubes are not interchangeable with the M1.

Overall I like my M2, but it does not like real light loads. One oz loads at less than 1200 fps will not reliably cycle the shotgun. The guns are light and are great for dove hunting because they are not heavy and they will handle the steel loads very well.

Friend of mine had one. Did. Not. Like.

It was picky about what loads it was shot with. It would often fail to cycle with bird shot. My old 1100 handled the same loads with ease. The M1 cycled great with buckshot, but beat you like you were a red-headed stepchild. My old 1100 handled the same loads with much less recoil.

M1 has steel trigger pack and M2 has plastic. M1 has a better trigger as a result. A lot of the best 3 gun shooters run M1 triggers in M2.

I did replace my stamped M1 ghost ring rear with M3 milled version - had to modify the receiver to accept it.

I have an M1 Super 90. I was impressed when I saw the add of a shooter breaking all 8 clays before the first shell hit the ground. It's extremely reliable with all loads including bird shot. Since it's a inertia drive system and if you want to use bird shot you can not have a side saddle loaded with rounds or it may not cycle correctly.

I have never had a malfunction with my M1 or M2 with light loads in thousands of rounds.

I had a Franchi LAW 12. Sweet shooter.

Its 8 + 1 Capacity can be unloaded in under 4 seconds.

There's one in the marketplace right now. Haven't checked the price.

M1S90 is my "go-to" for hunting.

When the bolt is in full-battery, it always works. It will outlast me. There are lighter guns that are getting more attractive each passing year.

Replacement hunting or target-length barrels are no longer available.

I have an M1 Super 90. I paid about $550 for it around 1985.

I’ve shot a M2 field while hunting birds down in Mexico. Their Montefeltro in 20 gauge is really nice and they sell a montefeltro in 12 gauge for around a grand at bass pro. Friend I hunt with uses a m2 field (lefty version) in 20 gauge. Other than the Benelli clicks I saw him have on a turkey hunt, it’s been a good gun.

Really liking my camo V3. Only hunted with it for one season.

Considering he is asking 1250, yes, 1200 bucks is a good price.

If you get it for 1200, will you tip him 50?

m1 is an older version that I don't believe is still in production. It's not listed on Benelli's website at least. It's an inertia driven semi auto gun.

m2 is inertia driven semi auto and comes in a variety of configurations from field models to tactical. It's extremely popular in 3Gun and you can get a variety of barrel lengths for it.

m3 is a hybrid...it can be run in semi auto or as a pump. Kinda a strange beast but may be useful if you run a lot of less lethal rounds

m4 is a gas gun, and comes in two flavors...a tactical version with an 18.5" barrel and a 14" breaching barrel. There are no other barrel options for it.

I have had an HK imported M1 Super 90 for a few years. I bought it used at a local gun shop. I really like it. It shoots great and mine has been very reliable. It came with an 18.5” barrel, and I liked it so much I got a 28” barrel to shoot clays with.

My son liked it so much that he got an M2 field. It’s basically the same gun, just updated a little.

I highly recommend them. They are light, reliable, durable and easy to use.

The Montefeltro is similar, but it isn’t as versatile. I believe you can’t add a magazine extension or get a 18.5” barrel for it.

The comment above about floating the extra shell in the M1 but not the M2 is true. I was told the M2 was designed to prevent it so the gun would be in compliance with shell capacity limits when hunting.

Get one, you’ll love it!

I think there is a mod for ghost loading the M2 but I can't remember for sure. I do keep my M1 cruiser ready with one on the lifter.

Had one. Good gun, but sold it and upgraded to the m4. Had a few failures to cycle with light target loads.

I have the American made knock-off, Remington Versamax.
Super reliable, has roughly 10,00 shells through her without one hiccup (looks like the Benelli’s can’t make that same claim)

Ford tried a similar comparison... it didn't fool anybody either

I've got a Benelli M1 Super 90 Defense model. It's my second one. The first one I gave away in '97, so this one I paid a lot more for was to make that serious transgression up to myself and punish myself at the same time.

I could be convinced to sell t if you tell me it's junk and I'm better off without it.

Sometimes I do stupid things.
