Default POST database via MDT?

I just wanted to clear up some possible FUD, being spread around by a friend of mine who graduated from the police academy. He insist's it's possible for officers/deputies to look up if a person is enrolled in a police academy on a traffic stop? I take what he says with a grain of salt... Is what he says true??

Never heard of that. I seriously doubt it. I am certain my agency cannot.

Never saw that function in any MDT system I ever used. Better question is why would you need it?

Largely not true.... not FUD, but not true.

Now I suppose it's entirely possible for an agency to put it's own cadets into the agency's in house RMS with some kind of "attending the academy" status. Might especially be so for an agency that has it's own academy. But a statewide database, no.

I've never heard of a way to do that, and I know my MDT can't do it.

I imagine if an agency put their cadets in "the system" it would be so they could track their cadets, and keep them on the shortest leash possible.

When I was in the academy, if I had gotten pulled over or contacted by LE, there would be no way in hell I would ever let them know I was in the academy. I tried to be a complete hermit crab while in the academy. It was very clear that if you got contacted or pulled over, the next phone call was to the academy TO, which is like someone calling your angry Italian grandmother. Not going to work out so well.

FUD. That would be a personnel issue, which is highly restricted information.

My guess is the academy staff tells them that just to keep them guessing. Mind games.
Even though Iím retired, I still seem to encounter incredibly stupid people.

Yep, my academy staff told us the same thing, sort of... they made it sound like every cop out there will know we are in the academy and it doesn't matter if we tell them or not, because they can find out and they will find out and the academy staff will know instantly no matter what... total FUD.

As soon as you take the written test at my agency you go into a in house database for police contacts.
