Default What is your Favorite Range Round

I've recently fallen love with the 380 round. It's easy to shoot. I used to hate the 380 round.

SO I ask: What is your Favorite "Range" Round?

Economical to reload, don't have to chase brass...well, sort of...

My lever rifle flings them a little bit, but still not as bad as a semi auto.

Your poll is like asking someone to pick their favorite child. That said, I voted 45ACP.

9mm probably right now for me. Most of my pistols are 9mm but I really enjoy shooting my AR9 that I pieced together late last year. It's amazingly fun to shoot.

I completely missed where it said handgun in the poll. Thought it was a general statement. I guess I should have come to that conclusion when I didn't any rifle rounds on the list, haha.

147gr 9mm. Works in my handguns and machine guns with or without suppressors. I usually have 1-2000 rounds in my range car at all times.

Lately my choice for a handgun round has been 7.62X25mm Tokarev which is not on your poll list.

That is since for many years I have multiple spam cans of Mil-Surplus ammo in that caliber acquired at around 10+ cents per round (and factory ammo also), and I have several pistols chambered in that round. One of my CZ-52s is listed on my California CCW License, and I usually carry it with JHP ammo on a regular basis.

Luckily I live on 80 acres, and have Six Rivers Nat'l Forest nearby to shoot on. The one local indoor range where I have to go to re-qualify for my CCW does not want me to use that 7.62X25mm round very much, due to their backstop.

Otherwise I can use many of the caliber options listed in the poll, depending on what my mood is and which pistols I want to use when out plinking/ shooting.

Favorite....or would be favorite if cash didn't matter?

I hit .22 because that's probably 90% of the rounds I actually shoot. But for pure fun .38 Special.

Enough recoil to be fun, to make you practice good shooting habits and proper grip...but easy on the ears and light enough to just shoot all day.

I chose 10mm but hesitated before I submitted the poll.

I shoot by far the most 9mm, second is 38spl. But the few times a year I bring out the 10mm are some of the best smiles per round on the range
