Aaaaannnnd I'm done. I have in my possession one Sacramento County California CCW. It took almost exactly 4 months from start to finish, cost a bit over $320 and about 24 hours out of my life.

Thank you to Alan Gura, Gene Hoffman, Deana Sykes, Gray Peterson and CGF for making it possible.

That's awesome. I've got to get going on my app. I just wish the cost was a little lower.

Today on the Armstrong and Getty show someone called in and let everyone know that self defense was considered just cause.

They might get really really busy now.

Gene and Alan Gura announced at GRPC that Sacto has and [must] continue to issue permits to applicants who used some [simple] variation of "self-defense" as their statement of "good cause".

So, Sacramentans, what are you waiting for? Go get your CCW!

Will do! Question, does a CCW permit void the "1000 foot" felony circle around K-12 schools? Thanks-John

Everything I have heard suggests that you are not prosecutable even if there is a limitation on the license. However; if you violate the limitations on the license you COULD have you license revoked. But, there is a lot of pressure on right now and entering within 1000' of a school zone is probably not a defensible reason to revoke in CA at this time.

In other words, get your paper, carry your gun and don't worry about getting it revoked for entering a school zone.

I know this will come as a shock to many of you. I had to read it 3 times to be certain I didn't miss anything. My brand new permit DOES NOT HAVE a 1000' school restriction. The only restrictions on it are "not valid if consuming alcohol or remaining at any establishment that primarily serves alcohol."

No letter yet for me. The word through the grapevine is that they have been down a member of the CCW board since April and have been meeting anyway. This info comes via our very own Gray Peterson and his sources. I'm very hopeful that my letter will be here within the next week or so. Seems Det. Wright might have had the wrong info in this case.

Thanks for the 411 Lone Gunman, I sure hope thats the case, did you use "self defense" as your cause like alot of other Sacramentans? I actually used a good cause and added "for my own protection" billy jack helped me with wording. I guess im just getting a bit anxious and hoping all my hardwork pays off

Sactech, relax. If you're not a prohibited person you should be a CCW permittee within 90 days or so.

"Self-defense" = good cause in Sacramento... no special wording or bad reservation jokes needed.

How long between initial contact with Amber and the call for appointment to drop off application?

It's running several weeks, but given what Gene has stated at GRPC in the Youtube video, that whole "appointment for submitting an app" thing could be going away very soon.

My good cause was

"I want to carry a firearm to protect myself and my family"

Signed and dated. That's it. According to the powers that be it should be enough.

I also received my permit in the mail today and mine does not have the GFSZ restriction either.

I am still having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that Sac County now has looser issuing policies that it's neighbor, Placer County! Congrats to you Sac residents!

As a resident of Placer Co., when are they going to be issuing in the same manner as Sac.? I've read they're still requiring good cause.

Two weeks?

He's bemused. If you read his filings and press closely you'll notice he slips in lingo from CGN from time to time.

Just received a reply for the next appointment, DECEMBER 23rd, are you freakin kidding me!

This is ridiculous, why can't I just go and drop it off, why do I have to WAIT for an appointment?

You don't. Things are a-changing. I don't think Gene would make an announcement at GRPC about being able to drop off an application for a license and it not either be fixed already or fixed very soon.

Patience, my friends. All will be revealed and dealt with soon.

So when can I apply for a CCW in Santa Clara County and reasonably expect to get one?
