Sorry for the off topic question, Besides the CCW do you need an AZ driver's license to buy firearms in AZ? or the CCW by itself is enough?

I would imagine one would need AZ identification since the CCW doesnt have an address on it.

You must be a resident of the state of purchase to purchase handguns.
Federal law allows you to purchase long guns out of state through an FFL, but California prohibits it.

Off-topic follow up question, so you can purchase a long gun out of state through an FFL, but CA law prohibits it, but... How exactly does CA law have jurisdiction over your purchases done in another state? I can see them prohibiting the importation of guns purchased out of state, but I don't think CA law can prohibit you from buying something legally in another state and not importing it to CA.

I think C&G is right here. California prohibits the importation of firearms. There are people I know that are residents of CA but own guns out of state.

I don't disagree...
As long as it doesn't come into California, I don't see any issue.

I have just received by AZ package. I have a few questions for those that have already gone through this.
1. Can I scan a copy of the application on my computer, fill it out then print and sign? On the top of the application its say "print or type" but this is a bit different because I will be sending in a copy not the original.
2. If you used your current CA CCW for proof of training, did you scan a copy of both front and back?
3. In the race portion of the application, if you are white, did you put a "W" in the little box? Next to the box is Hispanic/White (W) so I figured they wanted you to indicate with a "W" if you are a cracker like me.
4. Did you fill in your social security number?

Thank You!

Yes you can scan it in as long as it is “copy” quality.

Yes, to be safe send front and back of your CA CCW.

If your white mark that exact box with an “X”. It is a dual race box.

I put my social security number in but as the application states it is optional.

1. Why don’t you fill it out and then make a copy? Send in the original and keep the copy. I mailed in the original and scanned to save a copy on my cloud.

2. Doesn’t apply to me. But, I scanned the front of my hunter certificate.

3. I don’t know.

4. No

I have terrible handwriting due to nerve damage. I have the ability to scan as PDF and fill in the blanks, save, print and sign. Looks way cleaner than if I tried to freehand it. I am really worried about the finger print cards, can't mess these things up and they are really tiny areas to write in.

Thank you for the replies.

If you mess up the finger print cards, white out is acceptable for corrections.

Mailed the packet early Sept. Got the permit today.

That’s pretty fast IMO.

Arizona DPS is really good about processing CWP's...

IIRC my very first AZ CWP way back was less than one week turnaround!

How did they notify you it was approved? Email? Or are you just reading it off of the card when you received it?

I know I've posted this in this thread before but, it's been a while so.......

If anyone is close to me, I have AZ apps on hand that I can give you. If you need a class, I can do that for a fee. If you want me to roll your fingerprint cards, I can do that for a small fee. If you just want an application packet and help filling it out, I do that for free.

Wish you were closer, I would have taken you up on that. When I called for an appointment at the local PD, I asked if the cards needed to be completed before they did the prints. She said no, I could fill them out after. The first thing the young lady did when I got there, was have me fill out the cards. So my finger print cards looks like my 5 year old grandson filled them out. Having numb fingers sucks! Oh well, we shall see if they accept them.

I got to use my AZ CCW card today (now an AZ resident).
Bought a Cimmeron (Uberti) SA 357 for my Wife.
It's a present for graduating the Mohave County Sheriff Academy.
The CCW is the background check here.
Paid and walked out with it.

Does the FBI keep a data base of Live Scans? Just wondering if this speeds up the approval process if they are able to cross-reference the wet print cards?
