I agree. Amazon had the AAA for the same price a few months ago. I would want to buy another but I'm not a fan of D batteries.

All mine are the D size. I like the 340 lumens max and the ability to run 295 hours on low which is enough to light up a big tent in the dark. I'd still like to try the AA.

Same, pretty much everything in the house runs on rechargeable AAs.

Yeah, true. You can use 2xAA adapters in the D also, but the adapters are $2 a pop.

Hmmmm might consider it then. It's good to have options.

I have the Siege in AA and also D. It is a great lantern. Durable with long battery life. That is a good sale price.

What are your thoughts on the D vs AA versions?

Brightness, weight, battery life?

Thanks

They both have exceptional battery life. I have never run either one of them dry. They are part of my emergency kit so I tend to change out the batteries every 12 months.

The D model is heavier and bulkier than the AA model. If I was only going to buy one, I would buy the AA model due to the availability of AA batteries and the smaller size being slightly more versatile / packable. I believe the D gives off more light, but the AA is plenty bright for most applications.

At his time the D cell lantern is now selling for just over $19. it seems to me that this is a good deal. I bought the same D cell Streamlight lantern for $31 about 18 months ago. :-(

For D-Size batteries, you can get this 4x AA->D Converter for $1.49 from fleabay to use your rechargeable AA batteries.

Ok, I ordered one. What's one more lantern/light to add to the growing collection? I have a couple of the AA versions already and like them.

Another option for battery adapters is similar to the one duracell linked to above but this one has the option of using 1-3 AA in a D adapter. It will increase the capacity. If you purchase these, look around as I just linked to the first one that popped up so there may be cheaper options.

That's a great price. It's now back up to $35. Wish I had bought another now.

question.... if you use this converter will the battery drain faster or will the light be weaker? it is an adapter for 1AA to covert to 1D battery?

The other one has 3 AA to convert to 1 D battery. which is better?

Be careful when buying those days spacers. I bought some cheap knock off from flea Bay and it didn't fit in the battery compartment. They weren't the same size and regulations d batteries. I ended up buying d spacer from Eneloop.

Got my lantern today. Typical great Streamlight quality and works as advertised. Small size for the amount of light. I'm happy.

AA batteries have considerably less capacity than D cell batteries so runtime will be shorter.
