Default M&P Full Size to PC CORE Transformation

My M&P started life as an on-roster 9mm fullsize back in 2013 (yes, it has the mag safety) . I liked the styling, grip angle, and ergos a lot. The trigger, not so much, but I could still hit "minute of bad guy". As some may know, S&W announced in early 2014 they would let this model (and others) fall off the CA roster due to the microstamping requirement.

Soon after, I did a bit of a polish job, and later added a new gen slide stop which greatly reduced the grittiness and improved the reset. I shot it a fair amount and have about 1500 rounds through it. I enjoyed it so much I bought a Compact later the same year and a Shield in 2014.

So fast forward to 2017. I haven't shot it much due to other purchases (incl PPQs, P320C, VP9) and other life priorities that spring up. When the oportunity to purchase a Performance Center 5" Core slide kit recently presented itself, I jumped on it. It took a few tries but I finally received my kit. The kit contained a complete slide, with suppressor height sights, SS ported barrel, striker assy and striker block. It also came with the plates for mounting various red dot sights, and the backstraps in the PC pattern.

So this weekend, I completed the "upgrades". My 2013 era M&P FS now has the following:

Latest gen slide stop (purchased from Speedshooters Specialties, added a while ago)

"H" stamp trigger bar (purchased from Speedshooters Specialties, added this weekend)

Performance Center machined sear (purchased from Speedshooters Specialties, added this weekend)

5" Performance Center Ported Slide assy (from Grab-a-gun).

The slide has already has an upgraded striker block that's more rounded that the original. Here's a pic of my 4.25" slide (left) and 5" PC slide (right).

Wow! What a difference.

It still has the flexy hinged trigger and stock trigger spring so the pull weight doesn't feel any different. But it's very smooth and no longer has that "staging" feel when the trigger bar hits the striker block.

Now I just need to get to the range and shoot the snot out of it.

Congrats op. Looks great. I did a similar gradual build up like yourself but I went through apex route. I can't believe how amazing the gun is from what it used to be. I'm sure you will appreciate the upgrades.

I would recommend an apex aluminum trigger but that's up to you, I feel it gives a more solid feel and more control over your reset etc. Give us a range report when you can.

very cool, similar scene I went with the Apex trigger and love it. Now I want to put the ported core slide on my M&P Pro 5 inch. I was trying figure out where to go for that, I thought the only place would be straight to the S&W performance center, I don't know "Speed shooters Specialties" but I will track them down. thanks
