Default Older Rem 700 BDL Varmit

This is my Rem 700 BDL varmit rifle. Its in .223. Mounted on top is an older Weaver T-16. I bought the rifle in 1980 or so and the scope was soon after. I just mounted the scope and can't remember what groups it shoots. I have not shot the rifle since the early 1980's. I've looked on Gunbroker and only found one rifle like mine and it was beat up a tad. Its not tacticool with a matte finish and a plastic stock, but it looks nice. I don't know what the barrel twist is, but back in the day 55 grain was standard. If someone could tell me I'd appreciate it. Anyways its almost new with about 100 rds through it.

More than likely it is a 1/12" twist.

My in-the-works budget precision rifle. The missing part is a Savage 10FP 308 24", which just shipped out today. So shipping time + 10 day jail and it will be finished

Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40mm Scope
EGW 20 MOA Base
Burris 1" Low Rings
Harris S-BRM Bipod

I'm excited. This will be my first bolt action rifle.

Charlie, who did the camo job on your rifle? Also, is that a Medalist?

How do you like the 6.5x47 compared to other "long range" stuff you've shot. You have a 260 don't you?

I'm liking the stuff I'm reading on the 6.5x47, even though there isn't nearly the load data that something like the .308 has.

Thanks for your input.

The stock is a Manners T4A and the camo was done by Manners.

Yep like Randall said it is a Manners T4A with Manners paint. The only advantage to the 6.5 over the .260 is brass. The cost of the brass in also a downside.

I will be building a 7wsm for the the windy & long stuff...
