That'll work, although my first thought was a CZ527. From CZs site:

Built to CIP specifications, our 7.62×39 chambers are ideal for shooting steel-cased surplus ammo. Designed to shoot .311 bullets, some American brass ammo may not perform as well as the imported steel-cased variety because of SAAMI brass dimensions and varying bullet diameters.

They're saying it actually shoots the cheap stuff better.

Here is a 2 shot group using my cz 527 carbine from a bench at 100 yards using a vx1 in 2-7.

7.62x39 is fine if you just want to throw a bunch of cheap commie ammo downrange, but if you're looking for a hunting setup ammo is almost as much as 308.

IMO, 308 is a better bang for the buck. You can get Russian blasting crap for about $0.30/round or quality hunting or match ammo for not much more than you'd spend on high quality 7.62x39.

Awesome! Hard to miss a deer shooting like that, and with relatively cheap SP ammo good for anti-critter use.

But... "2 shot group"? I'm seeing eight bullet holes.

+1 for the 7.62x39 or .30-06

Or 6.5 Grendel for something different. Both CZ and Hoya make bolt action rifles for it. Its reputed to be a good hunting round out to 400 yds, and able to hit things out past 1000, depending on your setup and ammo. Steel cased Wolf is going for around $.25 a round

In the future you're gonna need lead free for hunting here too so think about that. I doubt you'll be able to find lead free x39. But 308, or 30-06, or other traditional hunting calibers you will.

Lol! FU.
It is a two 4 shot group.
Just wanted to make sure it shoots low to the right. 4 clicks up and 4 clicks left. Bulls eye!

Barnes makes a tsx lead free bullet for the x39. Factory loads are $2 a round.

Give it a couple more years and all California ammo will have to be lead free, Hunting ,Target, Plinking, all of it. It's coming soon!
