Bought a Celestron C90 reflector spotting scope - MOVED TO OPTICS
I bought and just received this: Celestron C90 Mak Spotting Scope
With the included 32mm, the magnification is 39x. I also bought a 2x adapter and a 9mm eyepiece. With the 2x adapter, you get 78x. With the 9mm eyepiece, you get 138x. And with the 2x adapter on the 9mm, you get 276x. But what about quality? I have only tested it looking down the street, but for sure, at 39x it is amazing. At 78x, it is also great, but darker of course, a little fuzzier, and mirage starts to affect it as well. At 138x all of the above is worsened, but still has quite nice resolution. I will test it saturday to see how far out I can see 30 cal holes in paper. And at 276x, it may be the mirage, but it may be too fuzzy to make out a hole, unless contrast is very good. I'll see soon. But without the 2x adapter and 9mm eyepiece, it's still only 149, and compared to the regular spotting scopes they have at my local range, it seems to be better, at a much lower price. I'll have to do an A/B test to see for sure. It's a little bulky, but really only 4" in diamater, so not that much worse than a regular spotting scope. I believe it's shorter though. And it comes with a backpack case. Last edited by blockfort; 01-17-2013 at 8:00 PM.. |
