Never been to one of these but thinking to go now that I am licensed 03. I heard that the last one sucked because of recent events. Will this one be likely back to normal? Any advice? Get some low temp windshield fluid?

No one knows what it'll be like, but I'll bet it will be better than the last one.
Yes on the low temp washer fluid!

Fewer vendors ----- maybe 80% of the last show.
I didn't see any real deals and LOTS of high prices for "stuff".

I love going to this show but I may soon get priced out of going. I was looking for a wwII 1911A1 and even rebuilt ones where going for $1750

Can you clarify what you mean by "the last show"?

Do you mean the last Reno show, which I think was a Crossroads of the west a few weeks ago? Do you mean the last "Big Reno Show" at the Grand Sierra, which a Scheiße-show because of the piss-poor handling of it by the casino? Do you mean the last good "Big Reno Show" before all the assclownery started?

Went today, and liked it. Free parking, and you could still buy AR's @ around $500 if you look. One guy wanted $350 for just a bump stock. Will be better organized next time. No one was pissed off, as they were at the GSR last November, and we were able to bring in guns for sale.

I feel show is sucking I hardly found a thing. Mostly all overpriced. At least they were able to move it and I don't see any major problems and is pretty much like how the shows were before the nonsense of the last one.

Since this thread refers to the "Big Reno show" I was comparing apples to apples.

Going tomorrow (Friday). Does anyone know where the best place park and enter the convention center is? Or is there basically just a single entrance for the entire facility?

Anybody happens across a antique Whitney Kennedy Lever Action Crescent Buttplate. Get the contact info. I would be very grateful for sure.

Single entrance. Parking was tight at the last show, especially Saturday, but parking was free and it was the 1st show held there since the GSR move.

Called their customer service number. They said they are at the convention center rather than the casino, but they do have some tables on or near the connecting bridge to the casino. She said it is better to park at the convention center.

The convention center is literally across the street. I wouldn't risk getting towed by parking at Atlantis.

Going to check out their Friday Food Truck event at a local park, 3 local breweries, the Patagonia Outlet Store, the National Bowling Stadium, the National Automobile Museum and the Nevada Museum of Art. There's an Aloha Festival scheduled for Sat/Sun that I may check out and there's also a Beer Crawl scheduled for late Sat afternoon downtown but think I'll pass on that because most of the participating locations look like real dives.

Seems like enough to do to avoid the need to step into any casinos while I'm there.
You could literally spend a whole day in the National Automobile Museum.
Some very cool machines inside. Was thinking about driving up with my son for the weekend, but I think we'll pass. Have fun-be safe.

The ghost town Virginia City has some interesting things to see.. From 1859 silver mining era (Bonanza)..

Just southeast of Reno.

Original mines and historic buildings...

Trouble is it's packed with tourists on the weekends

As said before National Automobile museum as well.

Was thinking about going, but $20 to get in the door with parking is leaning me against it. Is the show any good? How does it compare to the shows at Grand Sierra before they got stoopid?

Has the quality of the show remained the same from when it was at the GSR (prior to the last disaster of a show at the Grand S****y Resort)?

I drove up yesterday for a day trip. Show is a little smaller than the GSR days, but still blows anything we have in California out of the water. Saw a reasonable amount new stuff, a moderate amount of used guns, good number of C&R.

For me, though, there is something visceral about going to a gun show. It isn't just about being practical and trying to find specific things. It's kind of like people who antique hunt...the hunt is as much fun as the find.

If the show stays this size, I will go back.

Coolest thing I came across there yesterday- a 14 yr old kid talking to a couple salty old farts about a relic gun. He knew all about the gun and was having an involved discussion. Nobody was disrespectful, earnest discussion all around- but the kid clearly knew more than the others, but would listen intently as the others spoke.

I got a kick out of it- as it reminded me of when I was that age. Not that I knew anything about guns, just the experience of a youngster gleaning and sharing knowledge through good dialogue with some older guys. Got a neighbor kid like that. Cool stuff.

I found the show a bit underwhelming. I do agree its better than anything in Kalifornia though. Never seen so many booths with (the same) AR parts and bits for sale... PS- its usually a bad sign when 20% of the convention space is blocked off by a curtain due to insufficient vendor presence.

I agree that the show is a bit smaller than the show at the GSR but not by much.

I did score an early WWII colt 1911a1 for what I thought was a reasonable price.

I was there on Friday. Still one of the best C&R shows that I have been to on the West Coast. Well worth the trip.

Becoming like California gun shows.

Overpriced junk. Lots of it.

Mags used to be a good deal here. These dudes wanting more than brand new.

Miwall is okay.

GSR was way better.

Did I mention overpriced?

That is the new normal for gun shows, especially in California.

Way better deals on the internet, even if you included shipping.

Plus you don’t have to pay for the privilege of entering and parking to see the junk sale.

I found plenty to buy - an OM Colt Trooper and a 1903 went home with me. Was debating some Baby Brownings and Savage 1907 too.

There were fewer vendors this time, definitely. In part due to it being August, that's the slowest show even when at GSR. The November show will tell whether things are going OK.

Paying $10.00 a shot for parking is a problem though. I went Fri & Sat, got the 3 day pass. Paying $30.00 for 3 days of parking when the tickets were only $20.00 - there should be a better way. Maybe a 3 day parking pass for $15.00? I ditched going (3rd day) Sun because I didn't want to pay parking.

There's usually a fair amount of parts sellers, some organized and others not so much. The Convention Center set up is different than the GSR two room was, but there are a few C&R parts sellers always there. One fellow has about 6 tables loaded with M1, Garand, Enfield, M14 stuff. Couple others there with nearly as much.

Warning!

The big ammo dealers were NOT @ "The Big Reno Show" today!!!

From what I heard from the vendors, that the ammo dealer from Grass Valley
got into an argument with Lou the promoter.

One guy selling "grizzly" brand handloads, which I passed.

Lot of angry people with empty wagons and hand carts !

Crowd was sparse!

Atlantis has signs all over stating " Absolutely no firearms in hotel & casino".
