There was another thread here recently where there was some good discussion about the US 10th amendment, and how the sovereignty of states affects what the feds can do.

I suspect your answer lies somewhere within that legal mambojahambo.

I suspect so as well, though I see this issue as being a bit too blatant to fall within the normal discussion and debate on such things. Seems like new territory to me, and something that can be challenged.

True, and surely as blatant as this states' refusal to enforce federal immigration law.

A dozen pages and the OP hasn't posted since starting. My bet is he wasn't "confused" one bit.

Actually No I pretty much never drink. I've probably had 10 drinks in the last 10 years. I take no pain med except Aleve, not even after surgery or when I break a bone. Life is short I choose to feel every minute of it.

But having a drink at a BBQ is not what I'm talking about and you know it. And the people arguing on this thread against the federal law are the same people who vote for the people taking away our rights. So it is very much about "I'm not so OK with people taking away my rights because other people make those choices."

Sad you don't understand that.

I understand perfectly well, that you are wrong.

Fine that is their choice, choices have costs. I'm Ok with people giving up their rights in order to exercise that sort of choice.

I'm not so OK with people taking away my rights because other people make those choices.
With a bit of a recant here:

Also interesting to note that you think:

Those who oppose federal over-reach somehow support state over-reach?

You "non-drinkers" and such are a lot like reformed smokers who preach to everyone around them how evil they are.

Get a life, and let others live theirs.

Once again twisting what I posted. But pass the bong, I'm sure after a few hits m'll see things your way.

Once again twisting what I posted. I never said you were evil, now did I. Said you choose to not feel. Also said you are welcome to make that choice. And I never even said the "Federal Overreach" was right or fair, just that it is. PERIOD. But the politicians who court your votes promising to let you not feel are the same politicians who walk all over my rights.

Nice how you think you know what I think. Personally I am not against legalizing MJ I am against regulating and taxing it which is also over reach.

So you are actually the one advocating selling out to one overreach in exchange for removing another, not me.

But pass the bong, I'm sure after a few hits m'll see things your way.

Meanwhile our only real hope was that the crooked California Politicians would bankrupt the state and get voted out. Now all you hip pot smokers have handed them the overreach which will keep them funded and their corruption going for another 20 years all so you can smoke something you already did. And then you preach to me about how righteous you are.

61% polled want it legalized. It's pretty hard to get 61% to agree on anything anymore.

In ten more years it will be legal/regulated nationally.
