That is correct, the second batch from RIA is supposed to be 50 kits and is already on its way to me and was supposed to be here by Friday 10/4/13 so it's past the eta they told me.

Are you being sarcastic? I've never handled that old of a 1911 so I can't answer that honestly but the parts are supposed to be the same parts RIA uses to build their 1911's.

Parts have been on a cargo ship from over seas. These are the same parts used in the GI model.
A little clp will clean them up.

Haven't seen the parts kits, but I've got a GI model RIA. The finish on those is exactly the same as the finish on the WWII era 1911 I carried in the Navy in the early 90's. It's just parkerized steel. You can parkerize your frame after machining it to match the slide. You can do that on the stove while the wife is out.

Update on jigs: We are still working on the final design of the jigs, I'm hoping to have a prototype in hand and pricing by the end of the week and I will begin taking orders for them.

I apologize for my impatience it's just that I have had my frames for WAY too long and they are getting lonely. I do not want to cut the rails until I have my slides.

Does anyone in the South Bay already have 2 kits that they will forward me until mine show up? I may be willing to share my mills and/or make a jig for you. PM me if interested.

Well, RIA is slow to respond to my requests for eta's if I even get an answer at all, last I talked to them about 2 weeks ago I was told "any day" I'd have another 50 kits and then it'd be 4-6 weeks for the last 50-60 kits. I asked them to look into speeding up the last part of the order and they said they could offer stainless steel slide upgrades for free to make it faster but they won't tell me how many of those are available so it makes that option impossible. RIA's communication has been pretty poor and they haven't been able to fill the order they said I would have by the end of May. In the future I will only sell RIA products that I have in stock, no more paying in advance then missing the eta by 4 months and counting...

I would love to have stainless slides for some of mine too but unless they tell me how many they have and how long it will take to get them I can't even offer them to you guys, The SS upgrade was mentioned by them before I received ANY parts kits and I've been trying to get the needed info for that option ever since...

Just want to let everyone know the SS slide option is still not available, if RIA doesn't give me answers on how many they have and eta's I can't offer them. Last communication with RIA today was the Nevada distributors can't get in touch with the factory but they think all the remaining slides are already en route. I will continue to update everyone as I get any new info. Thank you

Update: Aimsmall Arms 1911 jigs are coming along nicely, I should have a proto type in hand very soon. I'm going to start taking pre-orders now so I know how many to make. They will be priced at $150 and are designed to be used with a drill press or manual mill. The jigs will have bushings in both sides to locate your side holes and guides for you slide rails and barrel seat. I'll post some pics as soon as I can.

I'm going to start the jig list now so if you want one please let me know.
